Gushi (Dundas W x Bathurst)
They've been here years for good reason. The classic chicken box that they have is a meal I have fond memories about. The karaage is fried perfectly, the purple rice has a stronger grain flavour than regular rice to me, and the combo of the spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce is perfect. It also comes with a little pickled ginger on the side of the box if you want a hit of acidity to mix up the flavour of bites. The reason I can't give it a 5 is due to how much they've increased the prices over the years. But even then I still think that the price is worth it. They also don't have practical bad weather seating due to the type of space they occupy.

First time trying Japanese street food and wow, it's absolutely delicious!I tried the traditional fried chicken with original sauce, and rice comes together. It was tasty and well prepared. The regular portion is good enough for one person. It's winter time and they were open and the server was very nice! So 5 stars for the delicious Japanese food and the great service!

Such juicy fried chicken on black rice. The balance of the pickled ginger and roe and chicken doesn't make it too heavy. Price at $9-10. They also have pretty good mango and green tea cheesecake for $3.5.

Let me start by saying BEST JAPANESE STREET FARE IN TORONTO!!This is one of my favourite places to grab a quick bite to eat. Located on Dundas St W along with other great shipping container restaurants. This is a must visit! My favourite dish is the original Takoyaki on a bed of purple rice (I have heard amazing things of the karaage but I could never turn down Takoyaki). The Takoyaki is perfectly fried without feeling too oily. The real star is the sauce a mild mayo that adds a bit of creaminess to both the rice and your protein. The pickled ginger is a nice pop of vinegar to break apart the richness. The rice (quinoa is an option as well) is perfect vessel to hold everything together and fill you up.I definitely plan to come back a couple of times and try out their entire menu.**Tip: try avoiding the lunch rush, this is a very popular spot for nurses due to the proximity of the hospital and can extend your wait.

First time getting their nanban everything box after years of sticking to their OG fried chicken box. The variety of the nanban box is nice and as always, their chicken is on point! The takoyaki and groquette are perfect. Everything is amazing and very consistent quality. Don't overlook this truck!!

Absolutely amazing fried chicken!!! It was freshly made to order (so will be a few minutes wait) but it was well worth the wait. I got the original with red salt and spicy mayo. The chicken was so tender and juicy, and piping hot. The seasoning was on point, and the spicy mayo had a hint of lime. It’s slightly more expensive than your fast food chain store but we’ll worth it. Definitely will be back!

One of the best affordable, delicious tasting comfort meals. You can’t go wrong with the Original Fried Chicken, Purple rice with the garnishes topped with the spicy mayo is the perfect combo. This place never disappoints. One of the best fried chicken options downtown. If you haven’t tried this place before you’re missing out!! Staff always provides great service.

I tried the snack set. The first impression is that for $15 the box is a bit small. However, these street snacks are great! As soon as I had the takoyaki, I realized that one shouldn't go to a sushi ya or any indoor restaurant for these food -- they only belong to food stands. The croquette is THE BEST in town. And the two pieces of fried chicken were nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy; so good such that I forgot taking pictures while eating them. Worth to come back with a friend next time.

The fried chicken was juicy and taste really good. Not much fan of their rice missing flavor and it was a bit much for amount of chicken in your box. In general good choice for quick bit in queen street,
