I lost my son Jan 2017 when we went to make arrangements. I felt at home. Very warm peaceful and calming. I have been to 2 other funeral homes in Barrie and this one by far is the best. I made my own slideshow, put it on a usb stick and it was playing on both large tv's I couldn't be more pleased with the staff they were amazing and very caring. A friend couldn't walk up the stairs they have one of those chair lifts. I would highly recommend them.

When my mother-in-law passed away suddenly, we thought that she had already make prearrangements for her death. However, all we found in her personal papers was a sheet where she listed what she wanted for her funeral. With not a lot of time to make arrangements, we turned to the Internet where we found Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices. My wife and I were both impressed by the services the were being offered for the price. We also appreciated that we could make all of the arrangements via telephone or online. We chose the basic package for cremation and it had every service that we required.The people that we dealt with on the phone and online were extremely kind and helpful. Everything was handled in a timely manner and exactly as described. We did have to travel from Aurora, ON to Barrie to pick up some documents and the cremated remains of my Mother-in-law, but that was our choice rather than a requirement.We also had a small problem with one of the services that came with the cremation package that we selected, but this was due to the limitations of a third party service and not a service directly provided by Basic Funerals. This was dealt with to our total satisfaction by Matt Riley based on the copy of the email that we sent to the third party provider.My wife and I are completely satisfied by the service provided by Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices and have made our own prearrangements with them for our needs.

From the first day we met Carl he’s treating us with respect and kindness And he took care of her daughter like it was his own We are very happy with the way he handled all of our affairs and questions

The staff were generally good, However if you have elderly people attending or people with disabilities, I do not recommend as the reception area is not easily accessible. In fact for those confined to a wheel chair not at all. Two very long flights of stairs make it very difficult for the elderly to navigate. Beware also, that technologically they have is very antiquated. There was no way to play music throughout, additionally if you want to display digital images, image size is an issue which we were unaware of . The monitors are not networked and we had to place a USB stick in the back of the TV.

Carl made this whole process simple! He was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for getting us through this part of losing our dad!
