We sat at the bar, our host was the lady with short hair. She was great! Great recommendations on wines and food, and very good chat. The wines were all on point, we liked it that it wasn’t so meat-focused, with nice fish and vegetables too.The whole ambience was great with other staff too being very friendly. It was a great night out.

Did the $65pp chef choice deal and added extra risotto and chicken fried mushrooms. Delicious food and attentive service. Definitely recommend along with their extensive natural wine list.Better value and tastier food than their sister restaurant Published imo.

Came here last night as part of a celebratory dinner with my husband. We thought that the:- Service was great- Decor and ambience was nice- Drinks were beautifully constructedBut unfortunately,Food was pretty average. We had the hamachi crudo, chicken liver, bread, Kentucky fried mushroom, trout. The only impressive dish in my opinion is the chicken liver, it had an interesting mix of jam and saltiness from the liver. The fried mushroom was also nice but nothing special. All in all, bar susu is a great spot for drinking but I wouldn’t say that this place is a food centred experience.

I didn‘t know where to set my expectation. When I saw the name, I thought it is a wine bar with good food. While their website only shows you the food with a tasting menu, I start to think it is a restaurant with a great bar selection. So we booked with the tasting menu. First of all, the servers are amazing thought the evening. There are some very interesting and adventurous cocktails. We had the cocktail and mocktail. They did not disappoint. Now the food is the roller coaster ride. By reading the menu, almost nothing is on the regular menu. I was hoping the chef will bring us on a journey on what the team would love to show. 2 out of 3 items of the snacks are quite sour. I can tolerate sour well and still think it was overpower. The bread was nice to clean the palate from all the sourness. Then the tartare was sour. Salad dressing is sour (like most salad). The butter sauce on the fish dish is sour and even the pork had citrus salt on it. All of a sudden the passion fruit mocktail was the the only thing which was not sour in the meal. If each plate was served individually, there may not be too much of a problem. Now the tartness overrided everything when they are all put together on a tasting menu. There wasn’t much spectrum on the taste profile; the sourness was similar between dishes as well. I even told the server that I couldn’t tell the difference between the plates anymore after the fish dish because my tongue was numb.Maybe it is better with a wine pairing? Although I don’t think there is a lot of wine which pairs well with the sourness. If it is designed to go well with wine, I would expect the tasting menu would have one dish with light-intensity meat, one with bold flavoure, and one with a little fat.Thank goodness the dessert was not sour. It was delicious.Bar Susu. You have potential, but more work on designing the menu is needed.

Bar Susu was a very cool restaurant with very unique and delicious food. We did the chef tasting menu and shared a bunch of small dishes and really enjoyed it. Some of the food was maybe a little too “experimental” for us, but most items were great. The cocktails had the same vibe - lots of experimental stuff but overall really good. The restaurant was very expensive so be warned about that! You also have to pay a deposit to reserve - but I highly recommend reserving.

Bar Susu had recently introduced tasting menus so I decided to give it a shot. I liked all the dishes except for the eel soup because the flavors didn't blend well to me, sausage flavor and eel basically. I think the salad had rice crackers in them, wasn't really a fan of that probably because I just don't like rice crackers. I would probably come back again when visiting Vancouver.

Good but not great. Food was underwhelming, but staff was friendly and enthusiastic. Unfortunately though we were left alone for quite sometime after our plates had been cleared at the end of the meal which made the difference on the quality of service and enjoying an aperitif to close out the evening. I asked for wine pairings with two of my mains. First glass was red and when the 2nd glass (white) came to the table the server poured it into the red wine glass (with a sip of red still in the glass). $65 per person for the chefs selection which is decent value for the amount of food you do get. Ambiance was nice.

Very good vibe in there.Their food was good and some of them were unique as well. It's a bar so they have a small food menu, but a long list of alcoholic drinks. You can enjoy this place even if you're not a drinker since their food is great. Some of them I thought were a little overpriced for what they are, but they all tasted great!

Jun 2023: came back again and still a solid food and cocktail menu. The chef’s tasting is now $65/pp and still a steal with the variety and amount you get.Only complaint is the lack of sound proofing, so it’s very loud as the room becomes one big conversation. I had a hard time hearing my own table.Sep 2022: Great experience overall with the food, service and cocktail selection. We did the Don's choice" for $55/pp and highly recommend this to take away the thinking. We were a party of 3 and was served 5 starters

Came here for my birthday with my fiance. It has a lot of charm for such an old place. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu. It was like dining at an Izakaya with fish collar and tartare and lamb ribs. The fresh foccacia was bang on with very nice yeasted brown butter. Lots of original little flavors and seasonings and garnishes. Safe to say we were both happy with being surprised dish after dish. The plates looked appetizing My cheesecake at the end with a birthday candle was great because I hadn't had a birthday cake yet. Our server Elijah was really helpful and friendly. Their hostess was very helpful and nice too when we booked our reservation. My seat (the bench) was a little uncomfortable but it's a very elegant bar with old charm. Would love to go again.
