Viking Lodge
My son learned about Viking Lodge and the Cranberry Lakes by following pro fisherman, Jay Siemens. I also started following and watching his videos before I decided Viking Lodge would be the next fishing adventure we'd try as a family. To start with, we were very pleased with our stay! Paul and his family are awesome hosts. Accommodations, service, staff, prices and the fishing were excellent! Quality of the fishery is top notch. We fish some amazing walleye lakes where we're from, but the Cranberry Lakes are next level. Many fly in lodges don't stack up to the overall quality and beauty of this fishery ! Thanks Paul and family for making our stay an awesome one ! We'll be booking again soon !

Updated 2023: My boyfriend and I still come here every summer for awesome walleye and trout fishing. The lodge has everything we need and the family that runs it is still friendlier than ever. I thoroughly enjoy coming here and can't imagine missing out on our annual trip here. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed :)Original: The people that run the lodge are so nice and helpful and their baked goods are the best! If you don't get a cinnamon bun from here then you are missing out! Great place to go fishing and a great place to stay with really good prices. I encourage anglers and campers alike to check this place out!

Viking Lodge
I’ve been doing fly-in fishing to expensive lodges for 12 years. It was awesome people and awesome fishing. But then I drove up to Viking lodge from Winnipeg and realized I could have world class fishing much closer and much cheaper. We had the best fishing I have ever seen on First Cranberry and Simonhouse. You can’t go wrong. Mathew and Cherene are great people who will make sure you have a fishing experience of a lifetime!

I recently booked 2 cabins for 4 young adults as grad presents at Viking Lodge for a memorable Canada Day weekend. They had an enjoyable stay and the fishing was good albeit the temperature was very hot(35+C). When the cabins were booked we knew 1 had a/c and 1 didn't which was ok because most of the time was going to be spent on the lake. As it was unbearably hot in the evenings they all stayed in the cooler cabin. When the kids when to check out they were charged extra person fees of $50 per person for extra guests for all 3 nights ($300). I called the lodge as to why there was the extra fee and was told that it was because they all stayed in one cabin even though we were still paying for the other as well. After getting nowhere with the owner on trying to get the bill reduced, I told him that we had a group wanting to go fishing in the near future and we will not be staying there. He offered to split the $300 with me which I told him to f%#* off. Sorry for the rant but just wanted to let others know about there business practices.

Viking Lodge
An amazing adventure in the Cranberry Portage area and it all started with the Viking Lodge. Amazing hosts gave us tips and information helping us safely navigate spring conditions. Anything needed that we had forgotten was available at the store. The cabin was perfect for us five guys and gave us an excellent place to prepare for the day and wind down at night! Would highly recommend this business and look forward to returning for a summer adventure in the future

Nice simple and cozy cabin. My girlfriend and I stopped there as we were passing through to Thompson and were met with friendly employees who were very welcoming. Our lakeside cabin provided us with a lovely evening view of the lake and a beautiful site to behold the next morning while we sipped our coffee. I would recommend this stop over in Cranberry-Portage if you are looking for somewhere to stay for the night. If you are a fisherman I would suggest this as it seemed the majority of the people there were there to fish for most of the day. The facility is set up to address the needs of fisherman quite nicely.

A truly epic place to explore and enjoy the outdoors with courteous and friendly owners who provide all the amenities you'll require!I highly recommend trying this place as a top spot for a snowmobiling destination! We took a trip up and they are truly a one stop shop for everything you need, the cabins were quaint and clean with comfy beds the lodge has some of the best food around, I highly recommend the pizza and wings which were top notch! They have premium fuel on site and direct access from the cabin onto the lake and snoman trail access plus lots of off trail opportunities. The snow conditions were incomparable with anything in the southern part of the province truly on the next level. They owners were very helpful and I though the prices were very reasonable.The lodge is known as a great fishing destination as well and though I haven't been able to fish the lake yet I would definitely come stay at the lodge again, summer or winter give this place a shot for your next vacation!

Our experience Is unlike others and does not recommend Viking lodge. We are a family of 9 travelling together to Cranberry Portage to share with our family where it all began. You see my husband and I were students at the residential school back in the 70’s. We pulled into the campground and were given our sites. Our son backed his trailer in and would have struggled to open the side extension given the size of the site. Our granddaughter needed to use the washroom and we were told there were no facilities available because of Covid. The road was immediately in front of the trailers and the entire area was flooded. Sandflies galore. We are not a family who cannot make do but it would have been helpful if we were given a heads up on the lack of toilets and the flooded situation. We had paid for 2 sites for 2 nights. Disappointed we decided to pull out and look elsewhere. It was the August long weekend and other campgrounds were full. We ended up staying in friends driveway with access to a bathroom. Cranberry has had many fond memories but Viking Lodge was definitely not one of them.

Really enjoyed our recent ice fishing trip. Owners really worked hard to get us in the right spots to catch a variety of fish. Answered all our questions and did a great job. Accommodations were ideal and very reasonably priced. Will stay again.
