Very disappointed with this campground. Their website falsely adverstise 58 overnight sites with beach view. There are actually just 1 or 2 overnight sites far from the beach (all the other 200 sites are seasonal and actually are on the beach) . Instead, they put you on a small square of grass just beside the main road. Don't be fooled by the images on the internet if you are planning on just staying overnight.

Pro: Scenic views. Waterfront spots for almost all sites.Cons: 1. When I made my reservation, I asked if they had a military rate. The lady acknowledged that she would. When we checked in, this did not exist.2. Got no WIFI at our site whatsoever.3. Stayed 5 nights. Went to the office the day before we left and asked if we could get the pumper truck to swing by to pump our tanks since sewer was not available at our site. She asked if our tanks were full, to which I responded no, but may be the following morning before we left. She said NO, WE DON'T DO THAT!4. We found the campground to be quite loud in the evening. The guy across from us really like the base in his music....11PM at night...every night we were there.

First impression should have been enough to turn around and leave. The worker at the office was VERY unfriendly and rude. Trailers are wayyyy to close and lots are too small! Showers were nothing short of a rip off. Stayed one night and that was more than enough for me. Was ready to head off Cape Breton Island and camp somewhere else but happened to chat with someone that told me about a campground called Mira Water Park and we went there instead. So glad we went there instead of heading off island. It was an awesome campground with the Cape Breton hospitality people expect when visiting Cape Breton.

My son entered the property after along hot day of riding his bicycle, part of his cross Canada trip. Its was 5p.m. He was told no room for him, no let me make a phone call or listen so and so lives up the street I will see if you can stay there. Unheard of. I have meet people cycling and know how difficult it can be and let them camp on my property just so they don't have to continue on. Windy, heat and narrow roads very tiring. Later found out they only want trailers, so they make more money. Despite advertising tent camping. Cyclers or tenter beware. Wont be the last you here of this. Thank you to the gentleman who offered my son a place to pitch his tent on their property so he wouldn't have to continue on. That's what makes me a proud Canadian.

This campground has a wonderful family atmosphere - we visit every summer - our daughter starts counting down the days in January for our visit!

We were very disappointed with the spot we were given; very close to the highway and far away from amenities. We had to walk over a bridge to get to the toilets and showers. In spite of the name, unless you are long-term camper you will not be close to the beach or the water. This spot was also the most expensive of all the campgrounds we stayed in during our trip around Nova Scotia. There was no firepit on our spot, but only some ashes and a bunch of rusty nails.

Beautiful scenic views of Bras'Dor lakes. Really nice swim area. With playground for kids. There is a raft to swim to on far side of property and a platform to jump into lake near the entrance. Showers a and bathrooms around site, and you can also rent Kayaks and paddle boats by the hour. There are many campsites and the place is packed.

This is a beautiful campground that I grew up going to with my grandparents as a child. I revisited a couple summers ago and as you see it did not disappoint. Beautiful views and great staff we had a great week, the dog still talks about it!I notice the negative reviews on here are from people that actually did not stay here? How is that allowed?

1. Very disinterested, unsmiling, unwelcoming, disengaged receptionist. Pointed me (in our 19-foot van) to a site near the main road, right next to Port-a-loo with the main highway about 50 metres away. 2. She didn't mention upfront that there was a password for their WiFi! I had to return to the office to ask to find that out. 3. NO info sheet, NO map of the grounds initially and then a very poorly printed unreadable map was handed to us on return visit to office. 4. EXPENSIVE at $56/night for serviced site 5. very cramped 6. Arcane complex rules and regulations surrounding rubbish disposal (must have clear or blue plastic bags, etc...we took all our rubbish away with us)...maybe the local council regulations but not made easier by the management7. showers a big issue. No info on how many loonies to insert and how long the showers would be on for! Then...they didn't work. I complained to the office after a cold trickle shower. They said noone else had complained about it, but they will get it fixed and refunded my $2. Next morning the showers AGAIN did not work. And I found out that they HAD needed to do some repairs recently to the coin box! The cleaning lady working inside the men's at the time seemed very agreeable and helpful and immediately summoned the maintenance man. 7. maintenance man appeared in men's showers block to repair coin box, smoking inside the block as he worked. This was *by far* the worst experience in all of the 20 campgrounds we have stayed in during our travels across Canada. Go their at your own risk.
