Great Lakes Sailing School

Took a 3 hours introduction to Sailing with the instructor Alexei this summer. The sailing club is hidden away. Make sure to catch the shuttle since it arrives every hour. We missed it because we stood at the wrong location, but Alexei was nice enough to come and grab us.The others didn't show up, so what was supposed to be a group lesson ended up being a private lesson for me and my wife. Alexei was very nice and friendly. Showed us around the boat and got us to try sailing for a bit under his guidance. Answered a lot of our questions. He has a wealth of knowledge. He also showed us an article of him and his wife sailing in the Great Lakes.Highly recommend taking a class with him. Hope to join him again in the near future for a full sailing certification.

I did the 30 hour Basic Cruising Standard. Alexei is a great, knowledgeable and to the point instructor. In only 30 hours I learned a lot. He prepares you well for the exam and for your sailing path after. I like that he is a bit strict and puts emphasis on safety and good seamanship.Thank you for everything Alexei !!!It was a great experience!

My son and I did the introduction to sailing. A great experience on a beautiful day. Alexei answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of sailing. Highly recommended.

Rigorous, detailed and consistent instruction. Strong on safety and responsibility. Bigger boat than the usual for this sort of course, part of the attraction for me. Charming location. A careful reading of the book will serve well.

I took the Basic Cruising course with Alexei @ Great Lakes Sailing School and enjoyed it very much. He is a patient and knowledgeable instructor. The course covered a lot of material and gave me the confidence to sail my first boat - a Siren 17, I'm loving it!

Alexei is very knowledgable instructor but more than that a really great guy. Most importantly he built a sense of security as a sailor and importance of good seamanship. The classes were both fun and very informative. I m thankful to Alexei for helping me reach on of my long lasting dreams to be able to sail the world :)

I enjoyed taking the radio operator course with Alexei. He was well prepared and the course flowed easily. Any questions I had were answered professionally and I found his teaching style easy to follow. The location at 850 Sweetwater Crescent was comfortable and clean and condusive to learning.

My wife and I took an Introduction to Sailing course with Alexei. We had no previous sailing experience, but immediately felt safe with him as our skipper and instructor. We both had a chance to take the wheel as we hoisted the sail. A great 2 hours spent in Toronto Harbour! Alexei was very open to any questions we had and was extremely knowledgeable. As a birthday gift, we spent 2hrs sailing from the bay into the lake and back. It was a great experience and a perfect introduction to the basics of helming, confirming that I want to pursue additional lessons with Alexei. He is an extremely knowledgeable and professional instructor with great passion for sailing, willing to indulge my myriad of questions and random comments. I had fun and learned a lot - thank you, Alexei, for making my birthday experience extra memorable.

This course is intense, but Alexei is a great coach, very attentive and to the point. N.B. Make sure you do your homework -- the coursebook is sent to you in advance for a reason :)
