I had a card slot issue with my recently purchased camera from a local camera store, and was directed to Gentec for the in-warranty repairs. The staff were not only polite, and responded quickly to my concerns, but also discovered another, less obvious issue with my second card slot which could have caused problems down the line. I liked their attention to detail, and them trying to ensure that I got my repairs done as quickly as possible. I will definitely return whenever I need my cameras/lenses serviced.

At this moment I am going to give them one star exclusively because their customer service is fairly fast to respond phone calls, but unfortunately that's where the good things stop. I have sent in my camera for repair as suggested by Sony and they have had my camera in for 2 weeks now and I have still not received any estimate on it. I have also contacted several times and apart from them being kind on the phone, they have also lied to me several times as to when should I expect to receive news from them.Update:I am updating my review from 1 to 3 stars based on some great customer service provided by management upon complaining about my experience.Unfortunately, 3 is the maximum as the camera was returned to me still with a broken piece (not critical).

Terrible terrible terrible. I bought Zeiss binoculars ($1500) in January and they broke after 6 uses. I wanted to send the Zeiss binoculars in for repair but Gentec sent me a spare part so I could fix them myself. The spare part broke so I sent the Zeiss binoculars in to get fixed. It has been almost 6 months and I still don’t have my Zeiss binoculars back. Gentec have failed to return some of my calls and emails. the service dept at Gentec told me my Zeiss binoculars have been misplaced. Gentec are not willing to give me a replacement. My experience with Gentec is that they do not value their clients and do not stand behind the products they represent. I am absolutely disappointed in Gentec and the service they fail to provide. Terrible company to deal with.

I dropped off my lens and camera on May 30th 2022 at Gentec international for repair due to a focus issue. After I paid, they emailed me that the Repair has begun... you should hear from us within two weeks." on June 6 2022. (I emailed them a few times with follow up questions and I never got replies from them.)After two weeks

I bought a onkyo Tx-NR 7100 through best buy 2.5 months ago with 2 years warranty and it crashed. Been trying to get a hold of these people but very little response. Going onto 3 days tomorrow. I suggest not to buy from best buy or klipsch as they are all tied together and they don't seem to care to help you. I will be taking further measures in the next day.

I had a great experience having my Sony camera serviced by Gentec under warranty. It was done quickly, and communication easy. I haven’t had much chance to use the repaired item yet, so I can’t comment on the quality of the repair. But so far, all is well.Timeline (excluding non-business days):Day 0 - shipped via Purolator from Ottawa, ONDay 1 - received in Markham, ONDay 3 - Repair startedDay 6 - Parts ordered, repair delayDay 9 - Repair completedDay 10 - Shipped outDay 11 - DeliveredI called multiple times to get clarification and updates about the repair’s progress. They were very patient and helpful, and allowed me to get an accurate estimate of when the repair would be done. Thank you Gentec!

Have NOT had a pleasant experience pursuing a warranty claim on a tripod directly from the e-store.Out of the box, the tripod was broken, unable to be used. The fluid head was inoperable and two of the three tripod legs were detached. The bonding agent failed.Getting hold of someone who was willing to make a claim, almost impossible. The website was met with stonewall after stonewall. The only way I got somewhere was pestering the local shop to help me pursue this. After which Gentec obliged to look at the broken product. From there, it sat for 6 weeks without acknowledgement from the staff of both the parcel arriving and it being considered a warranty issue. At which point of countless emails with no response and phone calls with no follow up they say it will likely not be a warranty claim and I will have to pay out of pocket.Brand new tripod, inoperable out of the box.. This leaves me as a small, independent freelance contractor without the tools necessary to complete any work.So far extremely displeased with both the product and the after sales support...Wish I could get a refund to purchase another brand with better after sales support.

So I ran into an issues with my Sony camera and was recommended Gentec, I sent an email a head of time and a little later decided to call regarding more information, I wasn't on the phone for longer then 2 minutes and I was directed to service where i was helped very fast, ( I forgot the name of the gentleman that answered my call) he answered all of my questions and assured me if there is any other damages that I didn't know about when I drop off my camera that they will inform me before making said fixes, I'm sure if the customer service was this pleasant and efficient that the tech repairing my camera will be the exact same I will follow up once I have dropped off and picked my camera back up. thank you once again for the help and look forward to the work you guys doSo update I brought my camera in for repair Wednesday Jan 18th, received my repair quote a Friday Jan 20th which was an extremely reasonable price when I was quoted 800 from a different place and it was no where near that. Monday after my payment went through it was off to the que to be repaired and Tuesday Jan 24th I picked up it up, camera was clean no finger prints like others have mentioned in their review, overall experience I will come back any time I need help fixing something and would highly recommend them !!!

it's been more than 2 weeks and they still haven't responded to a simple warranty repair online request, despite being reminded. Definitely too slow in customer service.[update: ]after posting a review here GenTec did finally respond, but their ticketing system still doesn't work, and they don't respond to online tickets submitted in their system (instead give a new ticket number even though it's still the same case - I have 3 ticket numbers now for the same case...) but instead write emails apparently without checking their own ticketing system. Still bad service, and currently they refuse to repair a lens that is within warranty and had no signs of misuse at all and was always carried well-protected. Their warranty is a joke, and customer service so far has been pressuring me to either pay a high fee for getting my lens back or paying myself for a repair that should be covered by their warranty.

I recently found the diaphragm on my Sigma 14mm F2.8D EX Aspherical HSM (for Nikon) lens, a much older model, was not stopping down properly. Despite this lens being about 20 years old, it was repaired FREE OF CHARGE, with a very quick turnaround, by Gentec. I was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff both dropping off and picking up the lens. Good communication about status of repair during interim. I don't understand some of the negative reviews here. I was treated as a professional, and was very pleased with the result.
