Excellent, personable staff... Very, very poor climbing facilities considering the monthly costs. Only go here because it's the only place to climb in the area. Went to gyms in larger cities that were 5 times the size, with proper route setting, at the same price or cheaper.

Great atmosphere and climbs. Climb rankings are a bit different than other gyms but still easy to follow. I liked that the ranking level of colors were also the same colors of the holds so you don't have to look for tape to tell you how hard a climb is. The employee (I believe his name was Kyle) was super friendly and would ask if he could give us advice on a certain climb we were working on which was much appreciated. Not as big as other gyms but still a great variety of climbs.

Some great pros mixed with some serious cons.Great to have any gym in Belleville, and the staff and community are great. The setting is high level but in a pretty unidimensional style. There's not much creativity, wayyyyy too many dynos, eapecially high up and dangerous ones. This setting is not super for beginners and more casual climbers, which are like 90%+ of the climbers. It's also not great for short climbers. The kingston management who run the place seem not to care about any feedback. Ya they're prob gonna produce some olympians, but the majority base of casual climbers that support the minority of elite climbers need more consideration, especially in this satellite gym. There needs to be more of a fun community exercise focus, and more boulder setting that provides progression opportunities in various styles for various levels. You need to be a tallish explosive style climber to get much out of the setting. Also I saw this point from other reviewers and I agree: the membership to this gym is the same pirce or more than many gyms that are quadruple the size. Not everyone (maybe even not many) can head over to Kingston often enough to make use of the dual aspect of the membership.I'd rather not be saying these things in a public post, but Kingston management gave no heed to private feedback. It's a bit ridiculous.

Friendly staff. Clean facility but small. Not for repelling, it's an actual wall climbing. We had fun though.

Took my children to the climbing gym. The climbing was great. I did not have time to fill out the waiver online prior to going, therefore filled out the form once we arrived. There is only one tablet at the gym for all guests, which because of technical issues, it took about 15 minutes to complete. Other guests were waiting for me to finish. Technology is great, unless it is not working properly. Having more tablets or even a hard copy format would be a good option. The manager was very curt (rude) when I asked for assistance. In fact he was rude to the group following me. One of the children made a joke about climbing and the managed responded, if you do that

Awesome little climbing gym. Wasn’t too busy when I went and the environment was stellar! The worker there was very friendly and helpful. My friend and I had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone looking to go bouldering.

Kyle you’re awesome! Keeping the tunes going and the good vibes flowing, always looking to help climbers and answering questions! You make the trip from Kingston worth it every time, don’t change! Now if only we could get the Belleville vibe in Kingston..

I have been going to the Belleville location of the Boiler Room for couple years now and am disappointed with how this location is run. First, the Belleville staff are amazing (and the only reason I give this two stars instead of one). They are knowledgeable, friendly, and do a great job at running the gym.I am glad we have a climbing gym in Belleville as well, as something is better than nothing. However, upper management has done a very poor job with this gym and it is steering people away and making us reluctant to continue to renew our memberships.1. The price. The cost to go to the Belleville gym is the same as the Kingston gym. In Kingston they have a huge bouldering area, weights, training walls, a moon board, lead climbing, top rope, auto belays, classes, training programs, etc. In Belleville we ONLY have a small fraction of the bouldering space. When I asked Alice about this in person, and in a general message to the Boiler Room Instagram account, I was met with an explanation that we are allowed to use the Kingston gym.Yes, right. I can conveniently drive for an hour to ANOTHER CITY to get the services my membership to a local gym pays for… Right. There should be a two-tier membership system for the Belleville gym. Those who want Kingston access, and those who don’t. It is ridiculous to spend more than most gyms in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal on a monthly membership with no services and a SMALL bouldering facility.2. Setting. The route setting is garbage. I don’t know if this is because the Belleville gym is not a priority, because the setters simply only like reachy dynos, or because they don’t spend enough time at the Belleville gym to get feedback (Belleville staff are receptive to feedback but they are not allowed to set per upper management). There is no variety, no creativity, and the routes do not follow a normal grading pattern. This is NOT a beginner friendly gym and easily more than 90% of the problems that are “yellow” and over are reachy dynos. There is no technique, just jumps. It’s very repetitive and boring.3. Management.Upper management does not spend time at the Belleville gym. Their only priority is the Kingston gym (as is obvious by the above points). Alice, when she is around, is RUDE to climbers and the Belleville staff. I am consistently taken back when I hear how she speaks to Kyle and Aaron. Malik might show up for a day every month or two but really spends no time here. Why does this matter? When the Belleville gym was new and Malik was present more often, the setting was much better. And the Belleville climbing community and feedback is so dependent on the Belleville staff who have no authority to make changes. They work so hard and are so stunted by the level of care and ability that the ownership gives them.I don’t know if I am going to renew my membership. I’ve spoken about this with a dozen other regular climbers at the Belleville gym. It is nice to have “something” in town but I am not sure it’s worth more than an infrequent visit every couple of months at this point. These are all fixable issues.I hope management takes this feedback seriously and implements positive change. This gym has the potential to be much better than it is.
