BELFOR Property Restoration
My basement flooded last year. I've never had to deal with restoration or insurance before so I had no clue what I was supposed to do or how to do it, or even who to call! I called Belfor and I am SO happy with that choice. Not only were they there promptly and continued to help me throughout the process of this situation, I actually felt like they cared! I know it's just another 'basement flood', but to me, it was catastrophic to deal with. My daughters bedroom, our main area, everything wet and ruined. I really appreciated their attention to detail. All the way through to the end. 10/10, would recommend! Thank you Sara + Team Belfor!

Recommended and used by my Insurance company.Zero response. No transparency. No planning. Had to call everyday to know what is going to happen next but the call will be answered only by the front desk and then it will go to voice mail. No work done for 6 weeks after a week of de-humidifier run. The main area where the water leaked was left un inspected. About 100 calls after, the floor was removed by 5 days(not consecutive days though!), the first day the Vinyl planks were removed and left the sticky base board uncovered and left a day break!!! Family with small kids suffered enough. Never recommend this service. steer away from anxiety and frustrations...

These guys were sent out by our insurance after we had some flooding in our house. Absolute joke. Scheduled times meant absolutely nothing. Wife and I had to leave work on multiple occasions to let workers in and they wouldn't arrive. When it came to work actually getting done, everything done by what seemed to be amateurs. Things were destroyed in the process. Workmanship was shoddy. Highly recommend requesting another company.

I woke up to a flooded basement, panicking I called Belfor, booked an appointment and Sara the General manager herself came by a few hours after my call. Although I realized I has not insured, I was provided with advice, a step by step plan and we did the work ourselves. Without this professional prompt advice I would of not known what to do at all. Sara made us feel so relieved, even called me back a month later for a follow up which I was shocked. Great company!!!

Bad - time management was horrible-multiple project coordinators on project-un ticketed trades doing work- no conversation with home owner at start and middle of time frameGood - once Samantha and lyle paired up the project went smoothly and good quality of work- final trades were respectable and did quality work.- time frame was respected upon final project coordination-if the team was used at start would have a higher rating

Project manager DarcyI am going to rate a 1/5Communication was very hard to get throughI was lucky if I knew what was going on between Belfor and my insurance broker.I live in a 668 square foot house- the basement needed a restoration after an emergency sewer back up. half of the basement is finished. The first day they had the fans going I was charged for the fans they didn’t run because they tripped the circuit. They could see the exposed outlets and could see that they were all on the same circuit. Knowing the operating voltage of their equipment they should have had the foresight to stick around to see if the circuit would hold. I believe this was a Thursday. If the project manager sees this he can corroborate with his notes on the project as I called it in and told him only 4 fans can runThen the fans stayed on from Friday to Monday and when I called in to ask if the fans should still be running the person who answered the phone (it was either a Nadia or a Natalie, I may have gotten it wrong) seemed surprised that they were still on and instructed I shut them off. I asked why they were not on top of it- the excuse was that they were busy. I don’t see how that’s the customers concern. I don’t blame Nadia (Natalie?) because she was on site first day and did a good job in the initial job clean up- this seems to be the excuse passed down by her management. I shouldn’t be charged for fans they left on and left at my property. They left the carpeting on the basement stairs behind, its contaminated by sewage that’s tracked up and down on the bottom of shoes. The bottom steps made contact with black water. I had called them about this but have yet to hear back.A presswood tool closet which was contaminated was left- and when asked Darcy what would happen to it since it was left after the clean up (it’s contaminated by sewage- presswood swells and takes in water real well) he said it’ll either be handled during clean up (it wasn’t) or rebuild . This makes no sense because at THAT time he wasn’t even sure I would be using them for the rebuild... we went back and forth on that matter and it seems like the quote was fabricated ahead of time before the issue with the fans, stair carpet or utility closet was brought up.When I was given a quote for clean up AND rebuild, it was well over the coverage amount by a couple grand. the project manager said the biggest component was the carpeting. When i asked if I could go with a cheaper option Darcy said I had to go with the carpet quote given by their carpeting company they selected Curtis Carpets. At this point I reserved to just being walked all over by Belfor regardless of trying to be as understanding as possible and just have them do the rebuild- BUT I CALLED CURTIS CARPETS AND THEY SAID I HAD THE OPTION TO CHOOSE A CHEAPER OPTION. Not only that, but this was the standard practice. I wish I remembered who I talked to at Curtis Carpets hut they were EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helped me understand the choices I ACTUALLY had. At this point I decided not to go with Belfor for the rebuild. The price I have to pay for a tiny basement that I don’t even consider a job well done nor finished (the contaminated carpet on the stairs, the contaminated tool closet) is already steep enough. To be fair the workers were all hard working. And when I did get to talk to project manager Darcy he seemed to answer my questions, and seemed confident. Which gave me a sense of confidence - albeit a false sense now that I see what I’m left with. However they constantly had the excuse that they were busy as to why the fans were left on longer than they should have been or why the restoration period took so long or why it was hard to get a hold of Darcy. So do them a favour and go through another restoration agency, as to lighten their load since these guys seem too busy to do a complete job.Know that the restoration company suggested by your insurance agency is NOT who you NEED to select.Still haven’t heard about the tool closet or carpet so I have to go clean that up now.

I would rate 0/5 stars if I could. Our insurance company connected us with Belfor for our home repairs and it has been an absolute nightmare. Do yourself a favour and request a different company. Repairs started over a year ago and were quite careless so we were left with chipped paint and baseboards, bags of garbage left behind, and paint stains on our deck from where they used the hose to clean their paintbrushes. There seems to be very high turnover in the company as our contractor left. Since then, no one from Belfor will return countless phone calls, emails, and texts about finishing the job. They will however send me the bill multiple times and threaten me with additional charges if not received… quite infuriating when the project is still unfinished to this day and no word of apology/compensation/repair of the damages. DO NOT USE BELFOR!

Belfor was very helpful from start to finish with our recent insurance claim for water in our house. The project manager was quick with follow ups and any questions I had along the way. Staff that were working in my home were friendly. Appreciate the work from Belfor.
