PROBUILT Design + Build

I was contacted by Probut after meeting them at the home show to discuss a quote for an exterior renovation to our newly purchased first home. They seemed to be very responsive and professional to start and I agreed to enter into a contract with them for a design. I was very nervous about paying 8 thousand dollars for a design, but was told that an architect would be providing professional drawings for this and that the cost would be worth it. I was very clear about our maximum budget and what I wanted done. Despite this they kept insisting that I consider future “phases” of work that had nothing to do with our initial discussions or even our goal of an exterior update including our desperate need for a new roof with mould remediation.When they came to us with their design, it had nothing to do with what we had requested, were not architectural drawings at all, and rather was a basic drawing for a major interior renovation without any exterior design and the budget was more than twice what our maximum budget was. I told them that we wanted to see an exterior renovation design and that our budget would not allow for any of what they were suggesting for the interior and they said they would come back to me in the spring with their new design. This never happened.As for their work, it took months for them to act on the roof issues, which resulted in us having to deal with a leak in our ensuite, which is only one of the many issues we have with the work done on our roof. They never even bothered to inspect the roof themselves and instead contracted out to a cheap company who did not care about the job at all.In discussions with them about the contract not being completed on their end, they agreed that the final (very key) stage of revisions to the design was not completed by them. It has now been months since I have heard back from them. They said they would contact me, but will not return my calls or emails.

We were new to basement renovations and they seemed credible when meeting, suggesting our small basement underpinning or benching, and renovation, could be done for around 100k. After spending 6k+ for “design” we were then told the basement would cost somewhere between 150-200k. They insisted on multiple in person meetings, where nothing was accomplished, and wouldn’t do the project unless we were willing to spend $200k. We have since gone elsewhere. And the “design” we paid for provided no value and we would like our money back for that. Otherwise the work they did on installing laundry upstairs appears to have been done well, hence not 0 stars. If I was just rating on the work they did I would give more but bc of the run around and the lost 6k I can’t give higher.XxxxxxxFurther to your response below, unfortunately you made significant omissions: the “phase 1 design” you reference, which cost us 6K, and was suppose to be for the whole house, was little more than a sketch of our house — and did NOT include the upstairs. When you gave us the drawings you said you hadn’t done the upstairs addition yet, and all that you did was sketch the current layout with the suggestion of adding a small closet in the second bedroom. A closet - that’s our wish list design you speak of? And the “design” for the basement was completely useless to the new contractor and they just did their own for free / part of the cost when doing our basement. Definitely not worth 6k!!!As for the ballpark budgets you referenced, you never offered a lower budget. Our basement is 600sq feet. You quoted us 150-200k and said you couldn’t do it for less. And unfortunately for us that was after you suggested it could be done for about 100k and so and we paid the 6k for this “design”.I don’t like giving negative reviews but I cannot just sit idly by having spent countless hours and months with you to get nowhere, not to mention the $6000 we would like back.

I have used Probuilt for 2 of my homes. I could not be happier with the design, the outcome and their pricing. Their employees were kind, helpful and cleaned up afterwards... which was unbelievable and of great value. Everyone at Probuilt were professional, kind, helpful, especially when I couldn’t make up my mind on all the wonderful design ideas that they gave me. I will definitely use them for my next Reno, which will be coming up soon. Thank you again, all of you, for the outstanding work and helping me making my home a home that I love everyday !

Probuilt made my backyard pool renovation easy!A great experience from start to finish. Marion’s design team was exceptional, knowledgeable and her construction crews were polite, courteous and did meticulous work that exceeded my every expectations. The backyard pool reno was finished ahead of schedule and is a complete success.The pool is now accented by a stylish Cabana complimented by a fully functioning pool systems pump house designed by Michael Upshall, all I provided was a sketch on a napkin!Marion kept the focus on providing me with the best in quality, paying extra attention to detail, without being asked.Marion and her team at Probuilt are top-notch and I highlyrecommend them!Thank you!

What an amazing team of builders. I did my complete main floor. They came in in budget and offered great suggestions when the unexpected came up. I would highly recommend them for anyone with a big build or renovation to do.

What a terrible experience. Customer service at this place is a complete joke. The people are so rude and treat you like garbage. I dunt understand how people can be so rude and miserable. A total waste of time and seriously regret every dealing with them.
