The Markland Coastal Beach Cottages

This place is a gem. Stayed in a log room and the view was spectacular. We booked this last minute not knowing what was in the area and it was perfect. Dinner in the restaurant was great, I had the halibut and my husband had the chicken pot pie. Free breakfast was all homemade baked goods and a tasty frittata. The bacon cheddar biscuits were amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer. The room was cozy with a comfy bed.

You're own private beach and on a clear night, thanks to very minimal light pollution, can see stars forever. The chef is amazing, do not skip having a bowl of their sea food chowder. The main area has puzzles and live music in the evening . Come prepared as there are mosquitoes in the evening.

Lovely cottage almost right on the beach. Great welcome and a superb meal in the restaurant to the accompaniment of local singer Bruce Courtney. Delicious pastries for breakfast including the best cheese and bacon scones I have ever eaten.

Scenic views looking out over the ocean, outside of small town Dingwall. Modest cottages with no wifi or television. A break from the creature comforts, but rewards during meals at the main lodge.

We had an amazing time at the Markland! The log cabins are cozy, clean, comfortable and offer gorgeous views of the ocean (perfect for watching the sunrise!). The location is optimal if you are planning to visit Cape Breton Island in 2 days as it is slightly off the northern mid-point of the Cabot Trail. They also have direct beach access and an on-site restaurant in the main lodge.They serve locally-sourced, daily catch sea food and fish and everything we tried was absolutely delicious! A generous breakfast buffet is also offered and included with the stay. Our experience with the staff was great too - they were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!

1 night stay with our son and fiancé late June. Nice property with pool and beach. Very pleasant staff. We had a very nice dinner there with a local singer/guitarist playing in adjoining room from 5-9pm.Wi-fi in main building/office only.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!We stayed here 24 years ago and we had put it on a pedestal in our memories. We decided to stay here again after camping in the park on a whim and we are so glad we did as it was a wonderful end to our trip!Our night was in the Kingfisher Cabin, what a beautiful place! We thought the view off the front of the was gorgeous; well, this one was serene, private and breathtaking as well! We didn’t want to leave! Our dog didn’t either, she loved it too, played dead weight when we went to put her in the car!For a cabin, it was immaculately clean and well stocked and the furnishing were updated! The bed was super comfy!The restaurant is fantastic! Definitely have the seafood pasta! And the breakfast was baked onsite and delicious. Maybe the best morning glory muffin I have ever had!Staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly!Wonderful beaches, one of the best views east of the Rocky Mountains and some epic hikes near by! ♥️♥️♥️

Amazing location, food superb (highly recommend the lobster dinner). Do try the bacon and cheese scones at breakfast. Delicious. The cabins are lovely and rustic. No WiFi or tv- BLISS. The staff are so good ,helpful and friendly.

Stayed just one night. Very comfortable and everything you would need or want. Breakfast the next morning was included and very good!! We ate dinner in their restaurant and it was an exquisite experience. Food and service was spectacular... Absolutely would recommend and this spot is so peaceful and lovely, beautiful beach...

Went as a couple and we cannot recommend this place enough. We had a magical time. We stayed for one night in September. The cabin was simple but very charming, clean and warm. For such a small place the food was absolutely incredible, we could not believe how good it was, we had the chicken pot pie and penne alla vodka. Yum! They had a great live musician in the lodge as well. Perfect!
