Love it! I have been a local costumer for years. The store is looked after by two gentlemen and scholars. Good mannered and well educated. It is in this store that I have purchased great variety of books from philosophy to culinary. Its a must see if you enjoy quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.

What a charming bookstore! Their science fiction collection is awesome and the clerk had some great recommendations. There are many paperbacks to choose from and they have a strong liberal arts and history section.

I visited a few weeks ago; I don't get to Waterloo that often, and when in a new place, I habitually check out the local used bookstores. This one looked promising. Not sure what is behind the name, but it seemed to promise that the owner was a curmodgeon after my own heart.I was not far wrong. Telling him I hadn't found many used bookstores in the area, he replied that his was the ONLY one. Meaning, the only one worth mentioning. It probably is, but no false modesty there.Apparently, the place has been around for 14 years, in an old two-story former residence along the main drag, anomalously next to a Tim Horton's. Coincidentally, my first chance to visit in 14 years coincided with a change of ownership, which was to take place, as I understand it, that very day.I can't speak to the new owner's policies. For the current iteration: the selection of books is truly outstanding, and the place is packed to the rafters, though well-organized by section and alphabetically (you may need to use the stepstool !)The prices are not low by any means, by used book standards. And the owner, though polite, was not open to volume discounts, cash discounts, or any other discounts. Though I bought more books than I could manage, his best offer was a free box to carry them in, LOL!The establishment also takes pride in the condition of books. Slightest damage is enough to disqualify a candidate for the shelves, it seems. By way of compensation, there is a whole wall of one dollar books, including some excellent ones, which did not make the cut condition-wise, and for the bargain hunter, this makes a great starting point. For sure, I will be back.

What a magical place this is! Arguably fable-like in it's wonders. Ideal place for an afternoon browse and a hand hold (should you be so lucky!).

I found this wonderful book shop while searching for local curators of older books. I am so happy to have found it.Upon arriving, we found out that the new owner recently purchased this book store from the retiring owner. She said she was looking for something different than her current career at the time - and this opportunity came up! Sometimes, when it was meant to be, it just is; why fight the universe!! The previous owner retired just last week but she looked wholeheartedly comfortable in her new environment. Since it was our first visit, she was kind enough to inform us how the store was laid out and that the pricing for each book could be found in the front of the books or one of the first few pages if not on the back of the cover page.Today, I was looking for some newer and older cookbooks to add to my collection. For a store that is not too large, their selection was impressive. As is the case when I enter a bookstore, I instantly felt my blood pressure lower with every book I touched. I have absolutely nothing against the digital world but by gosh there is something heart warming and intimate about holding a book in your hands and getting a whiff of that aging paper smell.I could have bought a lot of books but settled on two for today! I love reading cookbooks like one would read a magazine or paperback. All of the books I looked at were in great condition and were priced as expected.Out of the two I purchased today, I am most looking forward to reading; “Kintsugi Wellness: The Japanese Art of Nourishing Mind, Body, and Spirit” by Candice Kumai. The new owner told us many people were happy that the store would not be closing following the sale of the business. Having spent a short 30 minutes in the store, I now have a better understanding of why it is dear to so many. I will definitely be back.

A quaint, old school bookshop with a range of fiction and literature to history and sciences. The smell of paper and the classical music created a really pleasant and calm mood.A friend of mine and I went there recently and we both walked away with at least 3 books. The man running the shop was kind and attentive, and electronic payment was a pleasant surprise as I had forgotten my wallet.I expect we'll be returning to have another look about soon!
