Fred is a miracle worker. He always solves the problem, and his turnaround is lightening fast. If he can't replace it, he will find a way to repair it. My Saab always goes away purring after Fred gets his hands on it. I hope he has no immediate plans to retire, or else many of us are doomed. Highly recommended.

After the shop I used for years closed last year (Schramm) I was worried I might not be able to find someone to work on my 3 classic Volvos. After checking around, I found Fred. He is fantastic. Great work, fair price, and all around great guy.Yes, as others have mentioned he is hard to reach due to his not answering his phone. That can be problematic. There are ways around it though, and he does provide a number so his customers can reach him via text. I haven't really had a problem.I love the fact that Fred is extremely knowledgeable about the vintage Volvos and appreciates them. He was also able to source and install the 2 guages I had been looking for for nearly 20 years on my '91, 240 wagon.

In my experience, Fred has been very fair and knowledgeable, making him a rare breed in the world of auto repair. He has been thorough with his diagnosis and his extensive background allowed him to work on our older and newer German cars. He is an obviously passionate enthusiast.

Fred is a rare and precious find - you don't get the same depth of knowledge and experience even from the dealer! He is the only one we trust with our 28 year old Volvo 940 wagon. We have never had an issue, and he has saved us hundreds of dollars by sourcing hard to find parts. Can't recommend him enough for Volvo work.

Only place I trust with my 1987 Volvo 240! Nobody else knows what they are talking about. Speedy, accurate service, every time. Just don't expect him to answer the phone ;)

Fred took forever fixing my vehicle because he was on vacation 2 different times while my vehicle was in his shop. Also never picks up the phone.

We had our two cars in there. Always at least a $500.00 repair. One day we picked up our car and it was damaged after having the head gasket replaced. It had to have been from the mechanic.The head gasket kept leaking and all Fred did was re tork the head. It kept leaking and Fred never corrected the leak.Car always smoked even though it had low mileage. Another dealership said the fuel pump needed replacing. It was a diesel.Fred replaced the clutch and actuator on our Smart car. It cost me $2,400.00.The car was not right from the get go. Fred said that the clutch did not need adjustment.Shortly after that the new clutch acted up.I took it to the dealership and they told me that the clutch should have been adjusted with computerised equipment, but it had not. Also, the actuator bearing should have been replaced, but it was not.I ended up replacing the clutch again.My wife warned me much earlier to avoid this repair shop, but it took the botched clutch replacement before I opened my eyes.We DO NOT recommend this place for just an oil change! Even the price for that doubled.

Someone mentioned Fred Key doesn't answer his phone, because he's busy working. Hmm......yes....This could only possibly be considered any kind of 'good' if there were ANY other way to reach him. For the last two weeks the business voicemail box has been full (so, can't leave him a message) and the front door has been locked (so can't talk to him about previous work or a future appointment). Oh, and not even a note on the door so we know if he's sick, out of business, or dead. Great.I can understand someone being too busy, yet unable to hire help. But there are better ways of handling it than freezing out your customers.Communicate with them. Tell them you can't take any more work for....whatever---weeks if necessary, for you to catch up. At least leave that info on the answering machine and tell people how and when they can talk to you.A good technician is useless if you can't find him.

Fred work efficiently on my KEI truck. He modified parts to fit, its better now then it has ever been. Price was fair, and have more info on needs for maintaining my truck in the future. Thanks Fred
