The Village Salon & Spa

First time coming here and I was not happy. My usual salon is in Markham but it was booked up and I was desperate to get a cut so I though I’d check this place out. I should’ve have just stayed with my usual hair dresser… I’m not very happy with the outcome and the way it was cut. I had Sam cut my hair and he just got carried away with thinning out my beautiful thick straight hair. I know that hair will grow but I’ve never had my hair this thinned out before. His cutting style is questionable and I ain’t about that. I’m always so skeptical with hair dressers using the thinning shears because not all know how to use it properly. The damage has been done from the thinning shears… Also, my hair length is not even. My haircut was just a waste. Going back to my usual salon next wk to get this hair madness fixed.

I've been going to see Nalini for a few years now. I always enjoy my appointments. I would highly recommend Village Salon & Spa. Their prices are very reasonable.

Nalini is the best for haircut. Before going there i went to like 3-4 places .. she did a really good job ..

Very responsive to messages and inquiries before I even went. Sam did an absolutely amazing job correcting a previous colour and giving me an amazing style. She's lovely. I'm looking forward to going back.

The Village Salon & Spa is a hidden gem.The service is great, the prices are reasonable and the salon is kept in clean and in good condition by the staff. Nobody here sits around looking bored, tired or miserable. The staff are always working, happy, chatty and busting their butts to show customers are appreciatedMy stylist has been cutting my hair for 15 years and he's an absolute gangster that delivers on whatever bright idea I come up with when I'm sick of looking at myself. I tip at least 40% for a reason, this place is worth it.Service is timely and professional, and I've never seen anybody walk out of there unhappy.Not a pretentious environment. Everyone is cool. The staff at the salon are friendly and will take care of you from the time you call them up for an appointment to when the door closes on your way out.The Village Salon is 100% worth a shot if you're looking for a new stylist.

I Just moved to Durham and wanted to find a stylist close by. So glad I was introduced to the very talented Samantha. What a sweet and caring person. She listened to what I wanted and delivered! I finally have the colour I’ve been trying to achieve for over 2 years! Completely outdid herself. Location is beautiful, the prices are affordable and the staff was so welcoming. Great experience!

I have been wondering for a while if I wanted to leave this review or not. I am giving 4 stars because the girl who cut my hair was lovely and so sweet. The thinning shears have ruined my hair. I got my hair cut a few months back and my hair is still recovering. It was thinned out too heavily and added so much unwanted texture (lots of short parts at the back) and short spiky parts at the top of my head. I’m sad I am leaving a negative review because the other times I’ve visited have been positive.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous review about the thinning shears. I had my hair cut on Saturday by the owner and had to get my hair recut and fixed. There are holes and short 1 inch pieces left from over use of thinning shears but luckily it was underneath. My new stylist was able to nicely shape my bob with excellent cutting skills (with scissors) and I will just have to wait for the damage to grow back. First time I have ever experienced something like this.On a good note, the colour he did was decent.
