Windermere Manor

This is a great location for the University. The rooms and the location are solid, clean, standard places. Nothing fancy, but everything taken care of. The breakfast is definitely a highlight - this place shines because of the staff though. They're always helpful. Overall, a good stay.

Let's start with the good. It's a short list. The setting is quaint and scenic for university grounds. The building itself is tired and badly in need of a good cleanup and painting. The room was a good size but the furniture is very old and chipped. The cleanliness of the room was sub-par. The staff were not the friendliest, not rude. .Just not very helpful. The restaurant has a nice view but again, old furniture and I had to dig down a few plates in the pile to find a clean one. Food was okay.

I was here for a work-related Christmas lunch. The selection of food choices were great, with a decent selection of a variety of salads. Main course included an assortment of vegetables turkey roast beef done at medium rare as well as a soup. I was impressed with the variety of desserts that were offered it were likely about 45 different types of cakes, food plate, and smaller pastries. Service was great, and the room that we used was spacious and well-maintained.

Been there twice for brunch ( only offered once per month on Saturday). Remember to book ahead! Love it! Enough food for two. A bit high in carb and calories if you are on diet. But cheat meal per month here won’t hurt! The teas are good too! Very quite and comfortable. If you are lucky enough, you may also see some wild animals outside the window. Location is far from noisy centre.

Didn’t stay here but had breakfast with a crew of 14 the morning after a wedding. Interior is nicely decorated, service was great and food recommendations were on point. Everyone had different dishes and they were all tasty. Definitely recommend!

Wait staff was very enthusiastic and polite when serving, and bar staff was polite and fast. The venue is very nice - it was done up for a wedding but it seemed like it was well taken care of. The windows are huge so there's lots of natural light, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The yard outside is very scenic and pretty too :)

I was there for a good friend's wedding reception. The service and buffet were great. There was even a balcony in the great Hall for guests. I loved the look and feel and aesthetic. There were many photos taken within the hall. The bar service was great as were the staff. I recommend the venue for anyone looking to host a gathering.

The renovations are a big improvement for dining. The atmosphere and decor are nice and comfortable. Our food was very good, well presented and portions quite large. We were disappointed only by the service because our server. Unfortunately that factor means we won't likely go back.

We got married on Sept 27, 2019 and we are so glad that we chose Windermere Manor as our wedding venue. Our coordinator Lesley was amazing to work with from our first meeting onward. She went above and beyond answering many questions over email in a very quick response time, she helped firm up every detail, made sure our event orders were always up to date so we never lost track of pricing, worked very well with all our other vendors, and on the day of she kept everything running smoothly and made sure we always had everything we needed (including food!) Big thank you to Lesley. As well, all the staff were amazing. My family and friends told me they loved the bartenders, and that the catering staff were all very friendly and professional. The food was so amazing, and we are still hearing from guests how much they all loved the food. The venue itself has a beautiful charm and really didn't require a lot of decoration because its historical beauty speaks for itself. We had our dream wedding here and wouldn't have changed a thing! Decent hotel to stay in for a night as I’ve been a few times now, but given the price, it definitely needs updating. The bathtub/shower is grungy and on my most recent visit, the light in the entrance to my room went out, the hairdryer stopped working halfway through my blow dry and the room was out of tissues. The free breakfast option is pretty decent but it was much nicer when in the Ninety-One restaurant and not the small, crowded room in the basement...
