Beware!We moved to Midway B.C. From the Coast, ran out of probiotic for my dog. My husband phoned Kettle River Vet to see if they carry Forta Flora and they said yes, so we said we are on our way to pick it up. I drove to Grand Forks which is a 40 min drive…get there and said hi I’m here to pick up that Forta Flora, and the receptionist said do you have a file? We do not but Forta Flora is not a prescription it’s over the counter it’s a probiotic. “Oh no you need a prescription or your vet has to send an email stating your dogs needs. Well, can we have our vet phone you? No you would need to have them send an email and it would take our vet 24 to 48 hours for her to verify. I’m like getting upset at this point because it’s ridiculous and the reception was hostile… I asked if I could get a couple packets then because otherwise my dog will get diarrhea. Nope it’s a prescription. Um, no it’s not actually I usually order off of Amazon, but at the moment they are out. Anyway if this is how you are treated and not a client yet, I will travel anywhere else to avoid this Vet. Money grabs because you know that you are the only local vet is pretty sad.

Dr. Wes is awesome with my 2 dogs, and the vet techs are always kind and speedy.

Dr. Ruth and everyone else is always so kind, patient and they really do look after your pets with their best interest in mind. I appreciate that no unnecessary services are ever pushed on us.

This group of people, including reception, techs, assistants and most certainly Ruth, are outstanding in every way. The care we received at Kettle River far exceeded any experience I’ve had over 25 years at countless clinics. They gave my senior golden the Royal dental treatment, doing extensive exams and X-rays, removing 7 (I believe!) problem teeth and making her remaining ones look and feel brand new. Her gingivitis was immediately remedied post op. On top of this, the did a lump removal on the same day. The sutures were so expertly done that she didn’t notice them once through the healing process. Including exams, X-rays, full blood panel, surgery, deep cleaning and a full day at the office, plus antibiotics and pain medication, my bill was under $1000. I had been quoted $3000+ and a 6 month wait to remove three obviously problem teeth and a cleaning. That cost did not include a blood panel, X-rays or pain meds and I can’t imagine what the cost would have gone up to had they discovered the other problem teeth that Ruth did. We got in quickly and everything went great. The staff followed up post surgery and provided detailed care info. I cannot recommend this clinic enough. We will always travel to receive care at this clinic, no matter where we end up. Doing a 4 hour round trip was nothing compared to the cost difference and the level of professional care and compassion we received. Thank you Kettle River! You’ve restored our faith in animal care practitioners.

Our first visit to see Dr. Weston.He was very kind and professional. The administration team was fantastic. We just moved to the boundary area and are so happy we found the great team at Kettle River Veterinary.

Dr. Ruth and her team are outstanding! Our dogs never mind coming to see this very tiny yet mighty and plucky vet. The support staff are so excellent. I'm always trying to tip them! But they turn me down everytime.
