This is a great studio for all dance levels. Emily has created a safe, respectful space for people to have fun, learn some new skills, and overcome personal goals and challenges. I highly recommend their Thursday night Salsa socials, which comes with a beginner lesson to help you get dancing!

Passionate instructors! They obviously love what they are doing! I enjoyed my class! I have been dancing for awhile, but I had my first class at this location. How to sign up: online or in-person.What to wear: See my pic for info. I wear narrow indoor running shoes with dance socks over the front of them. You can get these at Thedancesocks.com, and pick the over the sneaker kind. They are $20 for 4 pairs. A lot of women wear high heels. They sell these shoes here for around $78. See my pic for pricing. They also have used dance socks here. You can also wear regular socks with no shoes. They don't want outdoor shoes. Methods of teaching: Their goal seems to be that you will come out with successful moves so that you will be able to quickly dance with some basic moves in public, even after 2-3 lessons. They stop during their lessons to ask if anyone has any questions. They will also say that they notice that people in general are having some issues. They never point out anyone specifically as having issues, so you should speak up if you feel you need help. They are more than happy to help! Even if you are in a class with multiple people, they will give you some individualized attention.Parking: You can park for free for 2 hours in the parking lot on the corner of Bridgeport and Regina street. What type of class to pick: I would suggest trying a beginner's class in a particular style to get a feel if you like that style. After you try a few kinds, you will get a feel for your preferences. If you want a slower dance, try Bachata. If you want a higher energy dance, try salsa. YouTube is filled with beginner dance videos for you to get an idea of the amount of movement involved. I would suggest the Bachata Dance Company on YouTube to get a feel for Bachata steps.Arrangement: Their coat room serves as their sign up area for their classes. There's also a waiting room where people hang around before the class starts; it is in the open merchandise room. Huge mirrors cover one side of their dance studio. There are multiple other rooms for yoga, etc. Underdog is on the 2nd floor.Attached business: There weren't any smells coming from the attached cannabis business below.Clothing: They sell dance shoes and Underdog clothing. They are replacing their dance floor in a couple of weeks.COVID: They have hand sanitizer at the door. They have X's on the floor to space the dancers. They are replacing their floor very soon, though, so I don't know if they will be there.

Brad’s commercial dance class is tons of fun! He structures the session in a way that is suitable for all levels of experience and keeps up a friendly, high energy mood throughout the whole class.Emily’s heels class is another favourite. She slows everything down to the basics and cheers you on every step of the way. It’s a great introductory session if you’re looking challenge yourself in a new style.I highly recommend these classes to anyone looking for a fun way to get moving and grow your confidence in a safe and welcoming space.

We booked a private chair dancing class for our girlfriends Bachelorette/Birthday party and Underdog exceeded expectations! Our teacher Lauren was welcoming, efficient, and nailed down choreo with a very buoyant (screeching) class of excited dancers at varying levels, in 1 hour. Beyond impressed. Well priced, well taught, beautiful space, and great mood lighting. 10/10 experience. We will absolutely be coming back!! ❤️

I am happy to say that I was able to attend Lauren’s classes at the Underdog! I met her in the summer for a group lesson before she was working at the studio and I loved her energy. As soon as I found out that she would be teaching I made sure to register. Her heels class was amazing as it allowed for me to enter a space where I felt competent and supported by other strong women. I was also able to try her chair class for the first time and I’m grateful for her teaching process. She welcomes mistakes and makes the environment very enjoyable with her sense of humour and constant cheering. I must also mention that we recently filmed for the digital showcase and her professionalism throughout the process was exemplary. She goes beyond the efforts of a teacher and I am proud to call her my friend!I was also able to participate in a free drop in class for couples salsa with a good friend of mine. We had a great time and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys being active with their friends and trying new things. Emily is a very kind and patient instructor! She was encouraging throughout the class and created a very warm environment, I instantly felt comfortable. Thank you for providing these opportunities to try new styles of dance it shows how much you want people to enjoy dance!!

I LOVE this studio! So many styles to choose from, and everyone is so kind and encouraging, and the classes are great fun regardless of how much previous dance experience a person has. I've had Brad as an instructor for a few classes now - not only is he very talented, but he is a great communicator! Brad's energy is contagious, he makes classes SO MUCH FUN with his genuine unbounded enthusiasm for watching people grow as dancers - the way he cheers for you will make you feel like you can do anything! :)

I have known Emily for a couple of years and I am so happy that she has created this space to share her passion for dance.Dance for me has been healing in so many ways and Emily has definitely been a part of that journey. Dance is a way to be present. Practice mindfulness. Connect to your breath. Move your body. Increase your self esteem. And can be the most amazing tool to support mental wellness <3I have mostly taken classes with Emily and I can truly say - as someone who never thought they would even be close to becoming a person who dances - that she has a way to foster confidence in new dancers. Her teaching style is patient and very thorough. She has also offered a way for me and my preteen daughter a way to connect through dance - something that I will be eternally grateful for :)Whether you have wanted to try a new hobby or have never really considered it, I would definitely try out one of the amazing classes this studio has to offer. All of us dancers started somewhere (for me it was the prettiest lol) but I am so glad that I kept going because it truly has become one of the most healing therapies in my life <3

Emily is my favourite dance instructor in all of Ontario. I've had some poor experiences with other instructors, with some taking my motivation away from dance, but Emily has always made me excited and happy to dance. She knows how to make classes fun, and she has some snazzy moves she shares with us that we can easily recreate at home. Hands down, my rating for her is a solid 5 stars. She's the best, and even if i have to travel an hour to get to her, it's worth it for me completely.
