I found Hurwitz insightful, listening with an open mind and providing suggestions that gave a road map of how to conquer the issues in front of the family. When I didn't agree with him he explained the rational for his recommendation and then I could see the wisdom that comes with it!

This review is way overdue but well deserved from my experience with Howard during my Section 30 Custody and Access Assessment. My lawyer recommended to opposing counsel that we chose Howard to do the Child Custody assessment as I did not agree with the child mobility request from my ex-wife. First and foremost, Howard is very compassionate and empathetic during my high conflict divorce. During the assessment, Howard took the time to listen to my concerns and the bond I had for my 6 year old son. I was fighting for joint and shared custody but the mother wanted sole custody and move my son to London, On which was over 2 hours from where my son grew up since birth. Howard came over to our house on a few occasions to observe the interaction I had with my son. This observation also was carried out twice at his office. Howard took the time to explain to my son that he was only here to watch him play with daddy. As you can imagine, this assessment took a toll on my son but Howard made sure he was comforted and at ease. Howard interviewed a few of my family members and close friends and neighbors. He was very thorough in his assessment and listened to both parties while remaining totally unbiased. Howard also on a few occasions sat alone with my son and asked him questions about his mom and dad. Remember, my son was only 6 at the time. At no point did Howard favour either parties. His assessment was 100% fair and unbiased. Throughout the process, felt that Howard was genuine and listened carefully to what each of us had to say and the situation we were in living under the same household going thru a high conflict divorce. During this time, I was going thru an emotional breakdown so I decided to seek therapy. Between Howard's compassion and the support of the 2 therapists, I was able to navigate through this Section 30. Howard asked me very detailed questions about my involvement with my son since his birth. He saw the genuine love I had for him and listened with compassion. During this 3 month assessment, I have to say that Howard was genuine and empathetic at every step of the process. Even during the session where my ex wife and I had to sit across one another with Howard, Howard made sure that we kept the tension under control and listened to both of us without any interruption or taking sides. I am speaking genuinely of my first hand experience with Howard and don't understand the recent negative reviews about Howard. The Howard that I met and spent many months with one on one and in a group setting is excellent in what he does. He understands the conflict and stress that we went through and was able to listen and give professional feedback on the situation. I have 109 page child assessment report to prove it. If anyone is considering a Section 30 or mandated by the courts, I highly and I will say this again, I highly recommend Howard to be the Assessor of this process. He understands the law, parenting, co-parenting or in our case parallel parenting, and how to get thru my situation as fair as possible. I commend Howard for his great understanding of the Family Law and what he did for me and my son. Howard is one of the reasons I am able to have my son with me 50% of the time shared and joint. For the fathers out there that worry about losing their child to their ex, don't give up. I am an example of a father who had to fight for shared custody from an ex wife that wanted not only sole custody but move him 2 hours away.

terrible experience . never replied to my therapy concerns through e mail and did little if anything to address them in person. felt he simply follows a prescripted narrative without consideration for poisoned relationships.after months of therapy and thousands of dollars i felt there had been no progress whatsoever . nice guy but completely overated in my opinoion.strongly advise looking to someone else.

Hurwitz lacks compassion for families. His resume lacks academic research and recent studies. The theories he used in my case are flawed and very controversial. He tends to work with (for) the same lawyers. He's good at one thing: Billing! Beware of him using his own people" for additional expert opinions. He's also good at positioning himself for additional fees if his presence in needed in court. He's good at escalating issues instead of solving them."

Making the decision to begin therapy is never an easy one, whether it is voluntary or court appointed. Howard Hurwitz provided an environment that felt safe and nonjudgmental, the process developed into a partnership rather then an anxiety, with the family’s best interest as the main goal from beginning to end.Howard’s method was supportive, practical, and best of all, effective. Howard is deemed an “expert” with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Family Branch and proved this as my expert witness in trial. His extensive background, education, experience, and knowledge provided accurate answers and unbiased theories to many of the inconceivable questions, significantly in severe parental alienation, not only for myself but also for my extended family, who were undoubtedly unfamiliar with Parental Alienation.Furthermore, I put my trust in Mr. Hurwitz’s professional practice with my family’s future, and he delivered. I will be forever grateful for this man.

Most families work with Mr Hurwitz maybe once, and then only for a few months at the most. In a very protracted set of circumstances, our three children and I benefited from Howard's expertise during two in-depth section 30 assessments that saw us require his services for over 18 months. Howard conducted detailed and unbiased interviews with all of our family members and he carefully observed the nuanced relations that were at play within our family. His thorough work and recommendations to the Court were central in saving a severely alienated child and protecting two other siblings. I'm forever grateful that Howard was committed to ensuring that our children grow up in a healthy and supportive environment where they can build relationships and fulfil their potential.

I found Howard thorough, child centred in dealing court appointment assestment. His calm, kind demenour made the process a lot less painful/emotional. His ability to attempt bring both parties closer together in agreement is an art. His wealth of information and experience is extremely resourceful to assist famlies to move on to the next phase of their life, healthy and happy.
