Tamihi Creek Campground

If I could give this a 0 I would. From the time we got there. The host was nothing but nasty and rude to me and my family and my friends. She would harass are 4 camp spot. She was so rude and drunk all the time. Yelling at kids because they wanted to play and have fun. She Would come over to are camp spot all the time and be nothing but rude every time. Would not recommend KIM as a host at all. She made are friends and family feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. And they would charge my son 10 dollar to stay for 2 hour every time he came to visit after we all paid for are camping spot. She wrecked are trip. And we left a day early because of her.

They have a very private place, very quiet. Pack you and your stuff in, and pack it out. No washrooms, water ( except for a nonpottable hose), some sites have power. we stayed 3 nights and 4 days and will go back. If you want to party loud, don't go. If you do go, relax.... the view is from out trailer door, we were 15 feet from the river rapids.

Love this place! Visited over the long weekend. Had a great time. Has really improved over the years. Big enough for large rigs. Very clean. Nice riding trails. Alongside the river. New hosts are warm & welcoming. Would highly recommend this place. Great for large groups on east campground. Close enough to town but far enough for a getaway. Be prepared to pack out your own garbage. Well maintained roads in & out. East campground accommodates Class A but not suitable for tents due to gravel. Support your local parks!I should have read the other reviews before leaving my above post. I just had to come back. People complaining about the hosts as if they make the rules! Very petty. Go somewhere else if you don’t like it.

Kim and Darren were very kind, genuine, thoughtful and accommodating. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!!!

So we camped at Tamihi east for the first time in years on May long weekend..and we had such an amazing weekend. We met the camp host and her husband and they are both super people. They did everything to accommodate our group of 5 trailers as we came in last minute. There was a traumatic event that occurred that weekend outside the campground and the hosts were so caring to everyone.I know it was a busy weekend but Kim ( the camp host ) managed to make her way to every campsite to introduce herself and asked if we needed anything.The outhouses we’re very clean and they always had toilet paper. We definitely are going back ( and we have already booked for the first weekend in June ) .It definitely was different taking your garbage home but that’s very trivial. Thanks for making our long weekend the best !!

We have camped here fir years and loved it. Not this time. Bathrooms were filthy for the whole 5 days we were there. Not even toilet paper was refilled. Some campers ran generators 24/7. We wont be back. The couple that ran it a few years back were so nice and kept outhouses clean. $17 a night and the don't even have garbage cans no more. Dogs barking day and night.

This was my first overnight camping, and it was amazing. Amazing location, exceptional camp host, forgot her name. She is very helpful and knowledgeable. Clean and peaceful place. Will be going again soon.

Not my idea of a nice campsite especially if you’re tenting it. It was great there years ago before it was commercialized, it had trees and grassy areas. Now it’s just a parking lot. On the side of the busy road, there’s a few tiny spots. It would be good for people fishing in a camper. I went elsewhere, I know of many other pretty spots

We just got back from yet another camping trip at Tamihi. I love this beautiful place! The new camp hosts are so friendly and accommodating. The best hosts they've had in there, in all the years we've been going.
