Even if I had beekeeping needs, there's NO WAY I would give my business to Alvéole.I drive across Geary Ave. every day on my way to & from work, and 85%+ of the time one or more of Alvéole's vehicles is parked illegally, blocking through traffic and causing a bottleneck and a dangerous situation for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.Their selfish, inconsiderate, and entitled attitude about parking wherever they want whenever they want is a pretty solid indication of the type of ppl who work here and run this business. Couple that with the other review I've read of Alvéole, and it's a no-brainer to avoid this place.Vote with your money, people.

Would be great if you could update your Google profile with your current address. Alveole is no longer located on Geary Ave.Maybe there's a way to remove your old address, as it's now my address, and your business shows up in searches for my address.

I quit my position as the sole Quality Assurance technician for Alvéole after 6 months. There are 4 major infractions against the beekeeping industry that Alvéole is currently committing, which is an insult to the industry I have devoted half my life to. I have 15 years of experience in apiculture, and after pushing to make changes to their poorly managed urban beekeeping operations, I was told I was interfering and suspended for a bad attitude and insubordination. The organization within Alvéole is abysmal, management is under-qualified, and the company's primary focus is on sales. There are zero regulations for the treatment and placement of honey bee colonies on building rooftops and I witnessed it first hand in numerous colony deaths due to mismanagement, swarming, and inhumane conditions.

Urban beekeeping has a history of beeing a collective grass roots undertaking. Typically practiced on a small scale, by a tight-knit community of individuals supporting each other.Bees have done well in Toronto largely because it's an activity undertaken with respect and familiarity of what others in the community are doing, and nobody has attempted to make a serious business out of it.It's somewhat shocking that a business from Montreal feels they can start a large scale operation here without any engagement of the local beekeeping community. Even worse is their misguided assumption that their profits will not come at the cost of damage to local pollinator ecology. If you do the math, looking at physical area of Toronto, the city simply can't handle more than 100 hives without causing stress to pollinators in general. This business alone is aiming to bring in that many hives without any regard to groups that have already worked to establish a local bee community. It's even more egregious that they were looking to hire staff with no experience. Any honest person who's spent time with them will agree that you never stop learning from the bees. Giving staff a 3 week training course, is insufficient at best, and outright dangerous at worst. It comes as no surprise that their profit driven approach urban beekeeping has resulted in so much controversy in their home city.

Alvéole consistently ignore requests to not sell their beehives for placement in public parks. They are interested in sales, not conservation. They need to take the time to learn about where pollinator efforts are taking place and why. Their hives cater inordinately to invasive pollinators.

I work with Alvéole in a couple residential communities downtown Toronto and the program is adored by residents, everyone is very interested in learning about the bees and the products are awesome. Shout out to our bee keeper Maddy who’s always great to work with on the back end and does an amazing job of educating us with engaging workshops!
