Octopus Books

A small book shop with a really diverse selection of books as well as community initiatives run by the shop.The day we went there was a 5$ book sale outside, as well as some books free to a good home available.The shop had community and local artists' art and crafters crafts displayed within the store and had a selection of books that covered everything from various political viewpoints, to diversity and access, and even multilingual books. They have a selection of books for children available as well, including topics like nonchristian religions, hair types, and broaching hard topics like grief with children.I'm definitely going to be coming back to this store and found their selections and community initiatives both interesting and heartening!

Octopus Books is a small but cute place to pick up some books in the Glebe! They have a lot of local authors, Indigenous authors, and I find their assortment of books pretty book and oddly endearing. The prices are a little bit higher compared to some other stores and the selection isn’t super large, but they’re definitely a really cool spot to hit up! Plus, using a gift card/certificate is seamless - a great gift for a reader in your life!

Never been inside, but I called them today looking for a book. They didn't have a copy but found another store that did have one. So nice of them to take the time to do that.

One of my favourite bookstores in Ottawa. Although small, it has a great selection of books for all ages. A local gem in the Glebe.

Cute, local store book. The prices are really good, you can order online and browsing around the shop is cozy.Books deliveries can take up a few days, so make sure take that into account when you order online.

When the owner is in a bad mood she sure knows how to make it known even to her customers. I had an unpleasant interaction with her outside her shop, she approached me and my baby and I opened the conversation with a playful question (one mom to another) and she interrupted by saying “I dont know what you are talking about - this is my store yeah” and walked away angrily. I was hoping to cheer her up as she got out of her car visibly upset but I guess she wasn’t in the mood to talk.Understandably we are all human, however taking a breath to be in the moment may result in more enjoyable days than flustered and forgetful ones.I hope someone makes you smile today.

Cozy little store, jam-packed with great books. You can't step into this store without something catching your eye. There's a great selection of local authors and books about the Ottawa area. The kid's sections is also very good.

To describe this place in one word: charming! I finally visited after insta-stalking the store for a while :)
