Too cool! a lava flow that is only 200 years old. It covers 39 square miles and destroyed four native villages. great interpretive center. neat to see how the ground is recovering. we saw a wolf and some bears there too!

We stopped here not to camp but to have a picnic. There were picnic tables and fire pits for day use in addition to the campsites

Quiet and well maintained campground with a dozen sites right along the self driving tour on Nisga's Hwy. Don't forget your bug spray!

Nisga’a Memorial Lava Bed Park Campground
We loved this campsite. Had 16 sites, all back in sites and a couple double sites. The sites are super private and clean with a lot of mature trees and vegetation. Everything is so green and lush. No power and water had a boiled water advisory. There was no firewood so bring some if you want to have a fire. It rained for 2 days but with so much tree cover we stayed dry.Was $20 a night and self registration. (just leave it in the box. (No change)You are in the heart of the lava fields. They have this amazing auto tour set up for all the key sites. No sound but can download off the internet. The hot springs were closed as was the museum and all the villages. The road up to Nisga'a is beautiful with all the trees and lakes along the highway with viewpoints to stop at.A definite must visit in our books. Not disappointed.

Basic camping trees make it feel closed in so perfect for a night after you do the Auto Tour. The info center fellow was so lovely sharing his history with us. Do stop so you dont feel rushed in this area.
