What a fantastic find in the reliable old Vennel in Dumfries! Mr Smith could not have been more generous with his time or his expertise, and he truly went above and beyond in repairing the clock of a dear old friend of mine. He understood exactly how precious the old clock was to my friend (it was a wedding present which had ticked away on his mantelpiece for over half a century) and did precisely what was needed in getting it going again. I just wish he could have seen the joy on my friend's face when the ticking started, followed by the quarter-hour chimes, and finally the hourly 'bongs'. Wonderful!Mr Smith also took time to talk us through the workings of the clock before we took it back to the owner. He clearly is an expert in his field but he's also a very kind man - highly recommended.Sarah

We took my late mums clock for repair. It hasn't worked for years. This was my first visit to Dennis. Clock repaired within a week, quoted quickly, polished with no extra charge. Superb in every way. Fantastic little shop with beautiful antique clocks on display. Horologist Dennis Smith did a great job of repairing and restoring my childhood clock, which had been broken for decades and is now working again, for a very reasonable price.

I would thoroughly recommend the Old Clock Shop. I inherited my great grandfather's clock not knowing much about it,but knowing it needed some TLC. I took it to Dennis who showed a great interest in it by giving me some background to this very old clock. He cleaned and refurbished both the clock mechanism and the case and got it working again. It's now back home pride of place ticking away on my mantlepiece.I can't thank Dennis enough for the care and attention he took over my clock and you can be reasured that if you have an old or unusual clock or time piece that needs fixing Dennis is you man!Thank you.

my uncles grandfather clock had not worked for many years mr smith restored the clock now works perfectly,i also sold some gold to the old clock shop and got the best price in the area,i would highlky recommend old clock shop a 1st class service im very very happy with the work on our clock and great price for the gold we sold.

I would thoroughly recommend the the Old Clock Shop. l took my 40 year old Snoopy watch to Dennis and he had it running and with a smart new yellow strap within the week and at a very reasonable price.This in itself deserves a great review but what makes it 5 star is the interest and enthusiasm Dennis showed for my watch and his understanding of how precious this little watch is to me.

It has been over a month since I got my Tissot watch repaired and it is still working perfectly. We agreed a price for the repair which was more than fair for the make of watch. Dennis has a unique character but rest assured this man knows how to repair clocks and watches. He also checked my barometer at no extra cost.

We recently had our antique grandfather clock restored by Dennis and were overjoyed to have it back home, its comforting tick once more providing a reassuring background to our evenings and its chime marking the hours. He is obviously an absolute clock fanatic and seemed to derive as much pleasure as we did in seeing it restored to its former glory. He picked it up from our home and returned it when the work was completed to ensure that it was correctly set up and balanced. Excellent service and work. We had a very unusual ball powered clock which needed service and repairs. Total confidence in the work know the job was well done. Having already had 3 other items serviced before. Knowledgeable with genuine interest in the pieces and we learnt a lot too. Definitely recommended if you have the unusual timepiece that needs an expert. This is the place to go.

My pendulum clock stopped working. Dennis was able to repair the clock within the week and is now keeping good time.I can't thank him enough for such good service
