The Boulders Climbing Gym
I just really didn’t enjoy the belay sign off experience. The instructor had an, I’m better than you, attitude. A lot of time knit picking issues that aren’t issues at any other gym or outside, when I saw way more sketchy things going on in the gym that wouldn’t fly at other gyms and no comments on that from the worker. And some of his comments aren’t even on the petzl approved list of proper belay techniques… further driving my suspicion that this worker wanted to elevate himself above another human. Not sure I’ll climb here again… I was very close to walking out and asking for my money back. All that being said he did pass me eventually, pricing is cheap and wall is massive.

Boulders climbing gym a climbing community for young and old and even the frightened. A facility with a bolstering 13000 square feet and the reputation to back it up. As one of two acmg accredited gyms(internationally recognized accreditation) on the south island the courses are taught by actual climbing instructors and not someone with in house training. The front desk is staffed by the most wonderful and friendly staff i have ever met. Each route is meticulously set to ensure everyone can participate. They even made a new set of difficulties for those new to the sport or very young (kbc). The top routes are amazing and have a wonderfully wide skill level and the leads available to those who want to lead is immense they set from 5.2 all the way up to 5.14+The facility is an amazing mainstay and I am very surprised they don't get more traffic.Lets show great places like this that we support them!I would recommend this gym to everyone!

Great birthday party here! Dylan was amazing with the kids, they adored him. The waivers take a while to submit so make sure they are done ahead of time.

Great place, super chill, and nice people working there. Only gripe is the smaller walls don't get the routes changed very often. Other than that, fantastic

My son takes lessons with their teams program for 2 terms, and I've seen how it's built his strength and confidence. Good facilities, very knowledgeable and able instructors, great programs for all levels. Highly recommended family activity especially during the rainy season (most of the year :)

This is such a great spot for kids birthday parties. Lots of different climbing areas, a nice big party space and not outrageously expensive! We’d definitely do another party here.

This is really the place to go with kids. The rentals are reasonable, the staff is kid friendly, and there are lots of lower difficulty routes where the handholds are not too far apart. Both my 6 and 9 year olds (beginners) can send routes to the top of the huge wall and that’s a real thrill for them.

There aren’t any lockers. You can leave your belongings at the front desk but it can be pretty annoying when you need access to your things. Water bottle isn’t allowed in the climbing area, so you will have to ask every time if you leave your stuff at the front desk. The bouldering area was confusing. Some routes didn’t use holds with the exact same colour. The top of their routes were difficult to find as well. Front desk were friendly. However, while I was climbing, there was another little girl climbing on the route right next to me (My route and her route cross at the end). The girl climb on the wall after I did, but their coach didn’t say a thing. Luckily we both finished our route nicely and safely. We could have landed on each other and get injured seriously if things went wrong. It was my first visit and the place wasn’t necessarily hard to find but it’d be helpful to have sign/signage to show where the gym is. Overall the gym was disappointing if compared to the other two climbing gyms in Victoria. Plus I found a loose hold…

The Boulders Climbing Gym
Great place for climbing. It's more affordable than the downtown gyms and more family friendly - they have more routes for kids and more space. It's not as new as the others but has a great atmosphere.
