Amazing place, I am from Calgary and was in town for the weekend and I noticed there was an open mat from 5-7pm Friday night so I call John Kutz and asked if I could come out, and he was more than happy to welcome someone from out of town.The group of people in this gym are amazing, a great moral and everybody is out to grow their game and learn from each other. I will 100% be back next time I’m in town. Thank you everybody for the amazing time

John is hands down one of the best Jiu Jitsu coaches on the island. Personable, educative, attentive to all. For any level Jiu-Jitsu training you need, from beginner to tournament training, all of us here at Alpha Athletics highly recommend John, Cholena and their trainers.

This review is long over due! Stopped into West Coast BJJ while in Victoria on a work trip. Took their wrestling class. With little experience I was super nervous, but John Kutz made me feel super comfortable and relaxed and really made it fun. I felt slow catching on to every drill/technique they demonstrated, but John really took the time and helped you learn at your own pace and made you feel no shame about it. Can't wait to get back to try more Wrestling! Highly recommend!

While I was visiting Victoria for a week vacation, I was looking for a place to do a couple days of bjj training. I reached out to Coach John and was immediately struck by his positive attitude and passion for teaching. I ended up doing 3 private lessons with John during my week in Victoria, and it was fantastic. John is a highly skilled martial artist and a natural coach. Over the three lessons, we progressed through a series of new skills in a way that was fun and easy for me to learn. The gym is very welcoming and John is an absolutely amazing coach. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Victoria so I can train at West Coast BJJ again.

Fantastic place! I travel a bit and get to train in different places around the globe, West coast BJJ is one of the best places I've visited. Everyone was super nice and inviting and John went out of his way to improve my game. Highly recommended.

The perfect place to begin your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey. I joined West Coast BJJ with no prior martial arts experience but thanks to amazing coaching, beginner friendly and fundamentals classes, BJJ has become integral to my life.
