Star Academy

Being a student of Star from grades 3 to 5 now in Newton's Grove. I had an amazing experience there and everyone was nice and helpful. I remember the principal and vice principal Ms. Bernado and Ms. Rennie and Mr. Bernado as the gym teacher! They were all great, I miss them greatly along with the teachers there! Please tell them that they helped me accomplish a lot during my time there & that I'm doing much better in high school due to them. Today one of my friends that I met there is now in the same school as me as we both reunited after 4 years. :) Student: Muhammad Mahfuz

I LOVE star! My son has been going their for 3 years and it’s changed his life and our families. I’m so glad we found it when we were looking for a must needed change. It’s positive learning environment has helped my son love learning again. What more can a parent want.

My son attended this school for two years. A fellow student hurt him and broke his arm. When I came to pick him up after school his arm was limping and I found out that the school only gave him a bag of ice to ease his pain. I also found out that he had to change in his gym clothes with his broken arm. My son ended up in emergency at Credit Valley Hospital. The staff at school was not qualified to recognized signs of injury or trauma. I asked the school for a list of staff who is certified with 1st Aid and CPR but they could not provide me with one. I ended up filing a report with the police and removed my son from this school in the middle of semester. The school also refused to refund me the fees for I paid for the whole year.

I use to go to that school from 2000 to 2002 up to I graduated before moving to BC. The teachers where very nice. Miss Bernardo,and Miss Rennie and the past staff where awesome teachers helped me in my school assignments. I miss talking to the old staff and friends I made there but that's life we all move on in are lives. The last time I saw Miss Bernardo and Miss Rennie was back in January 2012. I flew in to visit them from BC because my grandmother passed away. They where very nice to send there condolences to me and my family when I came back for the last vist in June of 2012,and they where proud to hear how I am doing in life and working. I would recommend this school to any new student it helps you prepare for your life and responsibilities in life. Thanks for the good times,and memories Miss Bernardo,and Miss Rennie.

I can’t say enough good things about Star Academy. My child’s time at the school was short, just Grade 7 and 8, but he would not be where he is today had not for Star Academy. Within four days of the attending the school, he was a different student. He was engaged, focused, eager to learn, and happy. His perspective was “they just keep explaining it and explaining in different ways until we get it”.Star Academy introduced the Smart Board and laptops in the classroom at a time when public school board had not. In 2002, the school was far ahead of others.The public school system failed my son - and likely many others with learning disabilities - during a time that a streaming system existed in Ontario public school system. The route suggested by my son’s elementary school would have lead to a vocational high school, where the Essential Stream was the only option.Thanks to Star Academy, my son soared. He now has two undergraduate degrees, is a healthcare professional and will be pursing a Masters degree.Thank you Star Academy

Terrific School!! My child has attended Star Academy for over 2 years now and I have been extremely happy with the teachers, the curriculum and the overall experience. I am quite impressed with my son's progress thus far, the growth I have seen on a social, emotional, and intellectual level confirms we made the right decision in selecting this school.

One of a kind school with a close knit group of students, teachers and administration where everyone knows each other by their names..My sons confidence has grown by folds since he has joined here and he only surprises me each day with new things he learns at star !!I have researched quite a few schools and am proud to have made a decision to join the star family which treats each kid like a family with compassion, respect and love :))They definitely balance all the skills at every age group without the traditional cookie cutter approach towards education!!

I attended this school for 4 years, and I graduated just before the ownership change and I will tell you that they were the best 4 years I've spent so far. The teachers were very helpful and friendly, as were the prinicipal and vice principal. I can't speak for the school as of now because I don't know how the new school administration is running it but if it is anything like it was while I was there then I would strongly recommend sending your kids here.
