Ralph and Angela are awesome. Their knowledge about smoking, spices ,recipes, sauces etc…is amazing, they can answer pretty much anything you throw at them about ,pellets, smoking, spices,sauces,brining etc….they are definitely helpful and knowledgeable about smoking. They are a one stop shop,from smoking,barbecue,pellets, chilly moose products, knives, tools, etc….I highly recommend Backcountry Recreation!

This store is a hidden gem in Central Alberta. Boasting an incredible selection of products from rubs and sauces to grills and smokers they will rival anything you'll find in the larger centers. The staff are very knowledgeable about their products and always happy to talk BBQ. They carry a wide selection of local Alberta made products as well as Brant Lake Wagyu and Hamel's meats. We'll worth the trip in if you're not from Red Deer.

Very friendly and knowledgeable. Has an amazing selection of local and competition BBQ ribs and sauces. Glad to see a place like this in Red Deer, you just can't find that kind of stuff with out paying a ton and ordering it international for your self.The Killer Hogs is a great brand and they have the whole lineup.

I stopped by a visited Backcountry Recreation last week and saw some of their great products a met their very knowledgeable staff. They know their business well and have a great stock of all kinds of smokers, seasonings, tools, knives, meat and anything else you can think of.
