I am truly grateful for Dr. Au's attentive listening and treatment. I now feel more positive and happy.Over the past few years, various unfortunate events in my life have unknowingly caused emotional distress. I gradually lost motivation, and my thoughts became negative. Unpleasant memories and thoughts constantly occupied my mind, and I would often cry without any apparent reason, especially before going to bed at night. Upon witnessing my emotional struggles, my husband found information about Dr. Au online and took me to his clinic for a series of intensive treatments.The treatments took place in a comfortable environment where I would lie on a chair and listen to soothing music. Dr. Au would carefully measure and adjust the position of the treatment cap, and then the treatment would begin. During the treatment, electric currents would be applied to my brain at intervals, creating a sensation similar to someone gently tapping on my head with their fingers. During the treatments, I would suddenly feel profound sadness , and tears would flow from the corners of my eyes unconsciously. This reaction scared me a bit. The nurse kindly wiped away the tears from my face and explained that it was a normal response to the stimulation of specific areas of the brain, and there was no need to worry. As the number of treatments increased, I gradually felt the urge to cry during the treatments diminish.After the treatments, I would still experience moments where I felt like crying. Dr. Au explained that it takes time to see the full effects of the treatment. After a little over a month, I noticed a significant improvement in my emotional well-being. I no longer cry without reason, and I no longer cry before going to bed every day. I have become more positive and motivated, and I experience feelings of happiness.Dr. Au explained that the treatment can help address my low mood problem, but it needs to be accompanied by positive thinking for optimal improvement. He has also taught me how to change my thought patterns, and I am actively learning and practicing.I am truly grateful to Dr. Au and his medical team for their professional knowledge in the field of psychiatry, as well as their meticulous care and attitude. Thanks to them, I have been able to overcome years of emotional distress and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of mental well-being.I would like to recommend Dr. Au to anyone who is struggling with similar emotional difficulties. There is no shame in seeking help for emotional distress because, by addressing the problem, we can find a solution. I hope that everyone can achieve health and happiness.

I experienced early childhood trauma which caused complex PTSD, Major Depression, and intense anxiety that I suffered with for over 30yrs (I was bed ridden for 25 years. He is a very attentive listener, did a thorough review of my medications, was empathetic, and provided concrete treatment recommendations on my first visit. Dr. Au took the time to explain his decisions and recommendations. A good psychiatrist is not easy to find, and we do not have many options in Nanaimo, but Dr. Au stands out above the rest. Dr Au and his team took amazing care of me! He was very patient and thorough with diagnosis and my options- plus providing all the information on TMS treatment.You can tell Dr Au and his team were really invested in my outcome and dedicated to getting me results.(Unfortunately that isn’t always the case when it come to our health system.
