If I could give 10 stars I would!!! Great store with beautiful Japanese paper, but customer service was the real star of the show. I bought some larger size paper that was packaged up to protect it while travelling, however, I ended up losing it while navigating through the airport. After contacting the owner of Au Papier Japonais to re-purchase, not only did they re-order a replacement which was no longer in stock, but they didn't have the heart to charge me again, so they replaced the items at no cost to me. It is refreshing to find a business with both heart and soul, and I can't wait to go back on my next visit to Montreal!

Beautiful store with lovely staff and a great selection. That being said, I purchased a water color kit for $70… Silly me, I should have googled it first. My local DeSerres sells the exact same thing for $40. Unfortunately for me, Papier Japonais doesn’t accept any returns or exchanges. Super disappointing to feel so ripped off by an otherwise nice shop. I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

Amazing Jem in the city for those who do arts and crafts. I wouldn't be able to tell how many varieties of paper this place sells. Over 400 I bet. All different prints. All unique designs. Great sketching material too. Book and pens/pencils. A little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Very high quality art supplier. Thanks for your business

A beautiful little shop in Montreal. They had a large selection of vibrant Japanese papers, craft supplies, brushes & reading material on the subject. I have my piece hanging on the wall now and hope to visit again every time i'm in Montreal!

I visited the store yesterday and the person helping me (I believe it was the owner?) must have spent nearly an hour with me, helping me select different types of papers to sample, suggesting alternatives, checking stock… and then putting so much care into securely packing things up for me because it was raining. My total only ended up being something like $16, so it’s clear that they genuinely want to give good service just because it’s important to them and it makes them happy. Truly such a lovely experience! I will be back often!

A beautiful shop filled with beautiful papers.It has a nice selection of large sheets, and also little bags of off cuts that I'm sure are a treat to play with.Nice selection of books (how to's) for paper art, some different inks and paints + brushes.I'd like to go back a second time and take more time to look through the store. It was worth the visit for sure!
