ON-SITE Specialists

A toenail-clipping specialist registered nurse regularly goes to the nursing home where my elderly mother resides. The nurse is clips Mom's toenails according to a schedule even though Mom does not have diabetes. Mom does have very thick toenails requiring special tools not available to the PSWs in this LTC home.There have been numerous times when Mom has angrily refused the service and the nurse left her room right away. A second effort, going back to try again a while later, was never tried, I believe. I was charged $40 for these non-visits and $40 for the successful visits.Neither that nurse nor anyone else from On-Site has ever contacted me as Mom's POA to comment on Mom's toenails in general (a status report), such as about toenail health, including about her toenail fungal infection. Nor has anyone ever contacted me to ask for strategies to try to get Mom to cooperate, etc. I am not impressed with this lack of communication to me. On-Site is contracted to the nursing home so there is no alternative service to use. The PSWs can't cut Mom's toenails.I am really bothered and have expressed my concerns to the nursing home, too. But, nothing has changed at the nursing home so they are partly to blame.The same On-Site nurse is responsible for this service and she writes the briefest comments on the nursing home's computer system about the visit, e.g. Resident refused footcare."
