This quiet corner of Sidney hides a property with an old world feel and amazing staff. Both upscale and at the same time very relaxed, this is the place to retire in comfort.

Had a family member stay here for a respite stay. The staff were great, very attentive and patient. It was a good experience for the resident.

The sales reps are awesome, very responsive and flexible - moving my mom during Covid was no small thing, and they did their best to support us both the whole way through. The concierge staff are amazing at remembering the residents by name. The cleaning staff are so friendly and talkative and overall everyone I've encountered are willing to help resolve any issues or share referrals so I'm getting the results I need. The wellness and activity teams are warm and enthusiastic about the residents and genuinely interested in matching abilities to interests - which was a relief to discover because I wanted my mom to have things to get her out of her apartment and mingling with other people. Now that we've been there for a few months, and things are becoming more routine, I can relax knowing that the relationships I've made with the staff are genuinely about creating the most supportive experience for my mother. I have seen them interact with her and other residents, and there is a sense of community in the vibe, which is all I could hope for.Once the Covid restrictions are removed, I am really looking forward to being able to share meals with my mom at 'her place'. it's sort of the finale to her feeling at home - being able to offer me a meal when I visit.

I moved here 18 months ago after my husband died. We had lived on the Peninsula for 25 years and I knew Sidney well.My family live in other parts of the world and they are pleased to know I am here and well looked after.I feel safe here, the food is terrific and there are so many activities and always someone to talk to.I used to own a Home Support agency on the Peninsula and we had many clients in the Beechwood as well as other retirement homes, but I feel Amica, Beechwood Village is by far the best one. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Though I'm sure the food is wonderful ( I've never eaten here) and the decor/ surroundings are beautiful, this place is VERY difficult to deal with as an HSW.The sign in/ out policy is completely understandable, as with any senior's facility.A requirement of the fire marshal I'm sure. However there's a particular front desk clerk that seems to take his job far to seriously. When coming in with an armload of groceries to give to a client who is sitting in the lobby and leaving right away, inside for approximately 3 minutes, in view of staff, this male front desk clerk was trying to have me sign in and then sign out, which would have been one in the same. I found this completely ridiculous.Very inflexible and rigid rules, especially for residents that have private, separate entrances, which is why they chose those suites in the first place. It seems to be an invasion of privacy. These residents are of sound mind and this is not a locked dementia facility. This is their home and they should be free to come and go as they please. They certainly pay enough money to live there! This retirement home seems to try and control beyond where it should be, causing residents to be fearful of breaking the rules".Not ideal to feel that way in a place they call home! I've never had an issue in ANY of the other retirement homes or facilities like I have with this one

As a team member at Amica Beechwood, I can attest to the care and concern given to the residents who live here. I have seen many times the lengths our staff will go to in order to create a safe, welcoming, and happy place for our residents. It is a lovely place to work and I have created many bonds with staff as well as residents and many staff members have been here for many years which indicates that it is indeed a positive place to work.
