Patullo Bridge
One of the fewer and fewer Old School Real Bridges left in the Mainland Vancouver Area. 4 Narrow Lanes that a lot of our cities newer drivers seem to be afraid of or too inexperienced with negotiating vehicle sizes that the semi truck drivers actually drive across with the four way flashers on hogging both lanes. In the 70's when I started driving cars then semi's, the vehicles were wider and the lanes may have been skinnier yet, and still we crossed the bridge (and passed others as well,) in the proper lane. 'I guess driving schools aren't what they used to be.Beautiful looking, well made bridge.

Really beauty of a bridge. A true classic, and don't think they'll be building any more like in the future. Can get an excellent view of this bridge when taking the skytrain and also get a view of the train bridge below which spins open for passing boats.

The bridge is definitely in desperate need of a replacement, as it is 80+ years old. Lanes are way to narrow for a highway (can barely handle trucks), has no center crash barrier, so opposing traffic is just around 50 centimeters away from your car. The pedestrian walkway is extremely close to the road, around an arm's length or so.

This bridge is kind of scary, given how narrow it is. This doesn't help that the bridge is showing its age, considering its over 80 years old. However, I'd consider it to be a nice piece of BC Architecture.

Amazing views from New West Parkade. Snow clad peaks in the backdrop, make for an amazing sight. If the pier park is open (closed during Covid), you can enjoy Fraser river front as well.

I use this bridge occasionally to get to appointments in New West. The first time I drove on it was very anxiety-provoking. The lanes are much more narrow than most bridges. It is however functional. Now I know what to expect so it's not as shocking. I leave a bit earlier and go at a speed that I find comfortable. Half the time you'll be driving behind a slow truck anyways.

If you are not familiar with the bridge and how narrow it is, you would probably feel extremely uncomfortable on this bridge as it is aging and narrow. The cars speed through there frequently and used to draw plenty of accidents. The trucks are especially annoying as they pass through and monopolize two lanes so it is easier for them to drive through. The one sidewalk provided on the bridge is a harrowing experience as I was biking over the bridge and got pelted in the face with small rocks from speeding trucks. Time for a change!

The lanes on this bridge are narrow. Watch out for large trucks that might need more space. Also make sure to know where you want to go ahead of time as some of the lane changes/exits can sneak up on you (best to start out in the correct lane than try and caunge on the bridge).
