Scamper's Snack Bar
First time there. Was a little confused with the ordering system, until, the lady behind the counter told us to take a seat.Had fries, dressing, and gravy. 2 of us ordered the regular and the large. Did not really see a difference between the order for the difference in price. Only real difference was the plate. 1 was round the other oval.I will say it was delicious.

Worst fish-and-chips I ever had. Had to throw half of it away couldn't even stomach it. $48 for 2 fish-and-chips dressing and gravy. I will never eat there again. I definitely do not recommend.

From Winnipeg visiting St.John for the first time. This restaurant has lots of good reviews and is within walking distance to our hotel, so we tried it out on our first night when we arrived town. Gave it a 5 stars. Our friends came to St. Johns a day after us and we took them out to this restaurant tonight. Food still good, hot and fair portion. Service good too. The only problem was two of us had hot water with lemon and they charged us. We didn't mind paying but the attitude of the cashier was very bad. So instead of leaving a reasonable tips, we left none. First time we were told to pay for hot water with lemon.

The staff was friendly and the food was really good.The prices were good for the portions. Went with 3 others and everyone enjoyed their food. We all had different things and everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. Will definitely eat here again. It is an old school diner type vibe in the restaurant but I liked that, nothing too fancy. Loved all the boats they had done in glass on display around the restaurant.

Old and dated. One of are drinks came in a dirty glass. No apology. Than got food. Was awful. Order breakfast only ate my toast left everything else on plate to be thrown out. Informed them the food wasn't good and that I couldn't eat it. Was charged full price for something I didn't eat. Than was given a disgusted look because I didn't tip. How could I tip with poor service, dirty cup and food I didn't eat, that they throw in garbage. I will never go back. The place is a dive. Go elsewhere.

My fish: batter was very dark and the fish was tough. Left 75% of it on the plate. Deninately won't be returning.
