Fil's Cafe
This was our first time visiting this store and we were looking forward to seeing such a high rating on the map. When we went in, we liked all the decoration and atmosphere. But it may be because I came to this place for the first time and I don't know the rules of this place. There were about 4 tables and we waited almost an hour for our food. Then we asked a little bit about how long it would take, because we didn't want to wait aimlessly. We were amazed by the reaction of the staff, she served us food and said she was frustrated. Because of our jumping in line. But we didn't want to jump in line at all. We just want to ask roughly how long it will be. After waiting for an hour for breakfast, we felt that the time was indeed a bit long. The food is a 100, so we don't want to drop the rating. But the experience is really bad, of course you have the right to say your upset, and I also have the right to reply. When we finished eating, we were embarrassed to hear the staff were still discussing our jumping in line with another table.

My husband and I visited over the weekend. It was our first time visiting. Totally worth it. The breakfast/brunch just felt so homely and lovely. The customer service by the owner’s family is remarkable. The quantity of every plate ordered was a lot.Hot sauce recommendation -The hot sauce offered by them is not very spicy but very flavourful for brunch. A lot of unique flavours. The owner was kind and offered my husband some extra hot sauce to take away.Highly recommend!!!

A really great family owned restaurant, we felt very comfortable here as it's decorated like a Nova scotia home.The owners are very kind and make you feel like family, i was given candy and it made me smile.Breakfast was filling and perfect portions. Coffee was also nice and hot, perfect for a grey day.I highly recommend this place if you like small family owned restaurants with homey feels.Phil is also very funny

I’ve lived in Barrie for 15 years and had heard of Fil’s but never got around to visiting. I missed out on 15 years of great meals! The cafe is cozy with some very eclectic decorations. The menu is packed with all sorts of items; breakfast, lunch or dinner. The prices are incredibly low considering the quantity and quality of the meals. Fil and his wife run the business while his son helps out. Very friendly and NICE people!! Try the café once and I guarantee you’ll be back!

This is the best breakfast place I’ve been to in Ontario. The owners will treat you like family and they are fun to talk with. Everything here is absolutely amazing. The ambience is cozy and the food is simple yet delicious. Don’t forget to try their coffee as it is freshly brewed. The lady their offered us some toffees while we were leaving which was a really nice gesture. I’ll definitely visit them again whenever I get the chance. I highly recommend this place

I've been to Fil's a few times for breakfast. Each of those visits have been an absolute pleasure.The place may not look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you. The moment you walk in the front door, you will be pleasantly surprised by the plethora of decor that surrounds the walls.They have been open for almost 40 years and in that time, they have collected nicknacks and memorabilia which they have hung up their walls and ceiling.The place is run by an older couple and their son. They are all really friendly and make you feel welcome. Their food is great, at least the dishes we've had. I recommend the Big Bear's breakfast!By the way, ask them about their home made hot sauce! It's delicious!

Fil and Lisa have owned this little gem for 40 years. Very friendly with quick service. The atmosphere keeps you busy while waiting for your meal.I had the best tasting Omlette with flavor that I have had nowhere else.Love this cafe, no reason to go anywhere else.

Very unique dinner, that's what attracted us. Loved the busy interior with great memorabilia.The service was impeccable, must have been one of the owners. She was so sweet and kind. I felt like I was walking right into her kitchen at home. The food was fresh and tasty.The omelet was one of a kind for me. I got the deluxe and the chucks or protein and vegetables were large, I liked it alot. I hate when there isn't enough in an omelet.Must check out if not for the decor, then for the service and food.
