HOPE MIDWIVES

Really disappointed in the kind of care offered to me. Care related decisions, dialogue, questions are expected to be channelled through email to assigned midwife. Mine was always too busy to answer my questions or reply to my care related decisions. Week after week, even with reminders, no answers other than excuses on why she didn't have time to reply. It's just unprofessional.I loved the idea of having the same person care for me through pregnancy all the way to delivery, but after a whole month of red flags, I don't believe that my midwife can provide me that. I'm headed back to my family doctor and probably going to hire a doula for the more person-centred aspects of care. I'd be open to trying a midwife again, as I know many folks have better experiences than I have, but probably not with HOPE midwives.

I would not recommend HOPE midwives.They just discharged me from their care because I emailed my midwife and told her I’d be unable to make it to two out of four group care appointments and asked if there was anyway I could book an appointment with her for the belly checks.She just kept reiterating how it’s important that I come and that’s why they give us plenty of notice to make the group care work.However you can’t bring your child to them. Unfortunately I can’t rely on my family and I live on the other side of the city to two of the appointments and my son has health isssues so I do not want to bring him on public transportation.In her discharge email she also brought up how she thinks I’d be better with an ob-gyn to figure out my bloodwork. In the initial bloodwork I had done I had issues with my iron among other things. My midwife referred me to a family doctor however I was unable to make the appointment. I thought I had been exposed to Covid 19. Turns out I wasn’t exposed to Covid but with my sons brain surgery coming up I couldn’t rebook. She knew about his surgery and I figured she realized that it would take precedence. When she emailed me and asked about the cancellation I told her I hadn’t had a chance to rebook because of my sons surgery. The next week I let her know that I had rebooked with a family doctor but the next day was when I got the email about being discharged from her care.

Hope Midwives are extremely knowledgeable, and care deeply about their clients. We felt so well supported through the journey of our grandson’s waterbirth. We had Heidi and Heather, who knew exactly what to say at each stage of the pregnancy and birth.

I would rate higher... but they only gave me 5 stars.Speaking from a different perspective... as a first time Dad. Hope Midwives was amazing to work with and take the first steps into being new parents. Through the group classes for my wife and the appointments that i could attend, all of our questions were answered and or worries eased. Not only do they support mothers, but they support dads as well with all the questions that come up. The support from Heidi made this experience second to none, and gave me confidence in a time that is new. I recommend Hope Midwives to everyone looking for pre-natal care. Thank you Heidi and Hope Midwives for the energy, and compassion, the teaching and support for our little one to enter the world. You made this time truly special for us.

The ladies of Hope Midwives are amazing! I was fortunate enough to be under their experienced care for both of my pregnancies. With my first, there were some unexpected surprises my husband and I had to make choices on and Tara was such an amazing source of information, reassurance, and calm in the midst of it all. I would absolutely recommend Hope Midwives for any expecting family.

My experience with HOPE midwives was phenomenal. I was treated very respectfully and with extreme kindness by every midwife I met! I was never judged, was very well informed and cared for! As this was my first baby and I plan to have midwives for every baby, I can’t compare this to having an OB/GYN. However, I’ve heard you just can’t get the same personal, all-encompassing support from an OB/GYN. Another plus to having a midwife is how non-invasive it is.I will most certainly be trying to get in with my same midwife next time! I can’t express enough my gratitude for such amazing women!

Heidi and Heather made the first time experience of an at home birth amazing. Highly recommend. Both ladies are very calm, cool and reassuring. Thank you!
