True Blue Swim School

My son is a beginner swimmer and I signed him up for lessons at the Whitemud location.To their credit, everyone working here behaves professionally. The instructors are competent, and the support staff are courteous and responsive. The curriculum seems decent.Ultimately though, I felt I was getting poor value for the money. The facilities are very sparse. You have to change in small tents at the side of the pool, and the teaching area is one third of one lane in a 25m pool. The student:teacher ratio is 4:1. For a premium priced service, it feels cheap.This seems to work better for older kids that can do more with minimal supervision. For the beginners needing one on one attention, it amounts to a lot of money for a few minutes of instruction in a cramped venue. Despite being scheduled for the same time every week, the instructors kept being rotated. Their schedule does not allow any time be briefed on where each kid is at (The next class begins the instant the previous class ends). This leads to going through the same batch of exercises over and over, regardless of specific skills that may need more attention for each child.We've since switched to a private program that provides much more instruction time per dollar, in a variable depth pool with a normal locker room. My son is more comfortable and is making noticeably faster progress.

I give 5 star to the instructors, and a girl who supervises them. I saw instructors teach kids one by one and correct them while swimming. I also like the systematic levels that true blue follow to give a certificate to kids they learnt some skills. It is kind of measurable skill and also motivating for kids.The only disadvantage is that, there is no private shower for kids, and also for cloth changing, there are some tents around the pool to use, which is not comfortable at all.I don’t know why kids can not use the shower in La Fitness center. It is really disappointing.
