i had no problem. walked in, told security i had an appointment for my theory exam at xyz time and he guided me where to go.i waited max 10 mins overall, passed my test, and bounced. no long wait hours, none of that stuff if u just read and find out everything online, make an appointment for wtv you need, and show up at the right time.

Absolutely no respect for time. As if i have nothing else to do other than wait all day! Whats the point of appointments if theyre not respected! I was on the waitlist for appointment for 8 months!!!!! Had an appointment at 11:50 am left the center at 4 pm!!!!!!! MASSIVE reform is needed. Unacceptable! I come from a third world country and yet ive never seen this before

Spent the last 7 years living and working in Japan. Spent about 1000 Canadian dollars in Japan getting my driver's license. The test is infamously difficult but I passed the first time. Recently returned to Canada. Was told by SAAQ, to provide proof of living in Japan for at least 6 months after I got my Japanese license. Canada has an agreement with Japan to exchange licenses without any tests. Spent 100 dollars getting documents Fedexed from Japan. Found out it would cost 125 dollars for EACH document to be officially translated into English for SAAQ. 6 months of documents would have costed me 860 dollars! I visited SAAQ to ask which documents to translate. They refused to help me. I decided to translate an official government document issued from the Japanese government, which has the sole purpose of showing that I lived in Japan officially for a year. I waited 1.5 months for an appointment at SAAQ. Finally I had the appointment. They refused to accept the official document from the Japanese government! They refused to accept the official Japanese Driver's License which also shows when and where I lived in Japan. I spent 287 dollars translating these two documents, and I'm not rich. Instead SAAQ wants bank statements from Japan which specifically show "tap and pay" and debit transactions. But SAAQ fails to understand that Japanese society is very different from Canadian society. Japan is a VERY cash-based society. Bank debit transactions and bank "tap and pay" are extremely rare, if ever, used there. So, I have been, in my opinion, unfairly denied the conversion of my Japanese license to a Canadian one. Japan is a very difficult society to live in with many challenges, but at least government departments and people on the whole are FAIR. Today, I'm ashamed to be Canadian. I immigrated here 15 years ago but I'm truly ashamed at the unfairness of a lot of government departments here (Not just SAAQ). And yes, I will endeavour to leave Canada permanently in the next few weeks, why should I live in a country where government departments are blatantly unjust and serve just to make life difficult for it's citizens. Canada isn't the country I expected it to be.

Considering the absolute mass of people they had to deal with, service was quite efficient. They could, however, improve on communication. At one point they were too full to admit more people (even those with appointments, so go figure) and just closed the reception booths with no explanations. When the receptionists were asked why they all closed even though there are obviously people still lining up in front of them, we got a half mumbled answer. You guys need to better communicate things like this.

Had my appointment by 1:30pm, came there an hour early for my appointment because the you still have to queue even if you have an appointment. The wait time takes forever, and I wasn’t attended to until 3:50pm.

Renewing my driver's license is a nightmare. The most recent online appointment is two months away. I tried the Maisonneuve outlet without an appointment and the officer said they couldn't access my files without an appointment even though there was no one waiting there except me. Then I drove myself to two outlets that accept walk-in and saw exactly what the pictures showed, people lining up for hours outside in -20 degrees. Terrible experience.

The SAAQ phone line is inaccessible, online you can't get an appointment for months, most outlets don't take walk ins without appointment and this particular outlet herds you into a trailer in no particular order then expects you to self organize by who got there first to eventually get limited coupons to show up at another outlet across town at a designated time without any guarantee of service. It's hard to imagine a worse system but then again, Quebec bureaucracy seems to have no limit to how primitive and anarchical it can be.Avoid going in person at all costs.

I recently went to this branch office of SAAQ and surprisingly received a very amazing service from a very empathic and kind agent; he was very nice to me when I told him that my french is very limited and explained everything to me in english and always assured my doubts were cleared, even tried to make me feel less stressed since i was going to have my knowledge test by speaking to me some words in my native language. I was not expecting to have such a good attention and I deeply appreciate it. I will get back soon to have the road test, hopefully my experiece is just as good. The only bad comment is that the waiting period is way too long, even when you have an appointment and show up with anticipation.
