Going to go against the grain on this one. Place was well-reviewed, so went in to pick up a basic pair of skates. Basically told the guy behind the counter that I was looking for basic skates to take my kids out skating a few times those year. Was sent to the basement and was essentially told by the sales guy down there that he wouldn’t sell me the $90 pair of skates they had and I should at least buy a $250 pair. Was told my feet would get sore in the $90 pair. I played AA hockey until I was 15, so I’m familiar with skates. Going out a few times a year, just wanted something basic. But after he told me the $90 skates were garbage, wasn’t about to buy them. My dad had actually also been in a few weeks earlier and had been given a similar Shpiel so that he spent $200+, possibly by the same sales guy. If you’re in need of fancy hockey skates, they looked to have a decent selection, but if you’re wanting basic skates and don’t feel like being patronized/upsold, I’d suggest going elsewhere.

Tried out Duke's after mediocre experiences with prohockeylife and settling for skates that didn't feel right. Had been looking for top of the line Bauer skates for a while now and was taken care of well by Owen for sizing and fitting. Im from overseas and this was by far the most helpful experience I have had at a store in Toronto, giving tips on where to play as well as making sure that my baking process went smoothly.Tried the skates on later and they felt great, never had skates mould exactly to my foot the way it was intended to until now, with my toe just at the end of the toecap with a great heel lock. I had my skates baked the 'proper way' and have never felt better on the ice. Tight and snug fit with no pressure points.Thanks guys appreciate itSam

Went in to upgrade my skates. I had a pair of the Bauer Supreme 160s that just didn’t feel right anymore. Since I’m now 26, my feet won’t be growing so I decided to invest in a pair of higher end skates. I decided to go with the Bauer Supreme Matrix and since the skates were the same size as my old ones, the guys recommended I keep the steel and just buy a new set of steel next seasons (one for pond and natural ice and the other for every day rinks). The guys also pointed out that the Pro Hockey life has been sharpening my skates backwards so I had more of a blade lift closer to the front of my skate which was messing with my balance. Got these skates baked and the only thing was the guy told me to stand up on the TUUK mounts with no blades in which later we both learned could have damaged them (push the edges closer and not allowed the blade to fit in) which gladly it didn’t. Overall solid experience and service. I can definitely see now why investing in higher end skates can be worth it, these are super comfy and feel great!

This is the shop you should buying all your hockey gear from. Exceptional and knowledgeable staff that actually is interested in helping you.Avoid Pro Hockey Life at all costs. Unless you want to be ignored and not find what your looking for.

Went in yesterday to buy new skates. All of the staff were extremely friendly. The one associate who helped me with the skates was just great! He answered all of my questions and was very knowledgeable. He was able to recommend a pair of skates that ended up fitting perfectly. This hasn't been easy for me as I have pretty wide feet and had no luck at 3 previous stores. I was able to get exactly what I needed in a relatively quick visit while also getting an excellent price. A big thank you to the great staff at Duke's!

I have been going to Dukes for well over 20 years from when the time my parents would buy my goalie equipment to when I started buying it on my own (makes you realize what they invest growing up!).The whole team at Duke's is amazing and I have been seeing the same faces over the years which is a sign of a great business that cares about the staff and they will in turn care about the customers.Huge thanks to Craig the goalie manager who has knowledge that is second to none and has always gone above and beyond to make sure I have the right equipment for my playing style!

Been there recently to buy goalie skates and a chest protector. Both times staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. In particular I had the pleasure of Jay help me with both purchases. He made the experience really positive! He absolutely did not try and upsell me. In fact, he was really good at asking about how often I play, what skill level etc and encouraged me to purchase the gear that fits my needs. He was patient, knowledgable and really kind. In the past, I've bought from Goalie Heaven, the Goalie Crease and Majer Hockey, but the experience here was the best of the lot!

This place has lost its focus. Absolutely the worst place to go if you need something. The employees are way over their heads with skate sharpening telling me pick up in 24 hours… multiple times now. I can say already that after 28 years of going to my local Dukes I won’t be returning.

Duke's has been an landmark for hockey in Etobicoke for years. You get great service, they take the time to fit your child for whatever equipment needed. Selection of product and pricing is on par with other superior retailers. Ask for Manny when you go in! Great guy.

This place was amazing. I needed new skates in a pinch (blade broke, Easton skates were too old to replace without a new blade holder), and heard about this place from a friend.I arrived at 2:53 on a Sunday, they were closing at 4:00, and their sales team really took the time to make sure I found the proper fit and skate for my playing style (multiple fits, skates and testing). I walked out of there at 3:59 with a brand new, sharpened pair had the first skate at 7:30 that evening, and the skates were perfect.I may never shop at another hockey shop again, even if there is some travel time.Shout out to Owen
