This is a great public marina to launch canoes and kayaks. The parking right next to the dock is reserved for the Nicomekl Rowing Club, but there are about three spots in that lot where people may park for up to 15 minutes to unload their car-top boats. There is free public parking that's a short walk away from the dock to the west.Paddlers have the option to launch from the concrete boat ramp, or from the floating dock. The sides of the concrete ramp can get pretty muddy, and watch out for abrasive oyster shells that can scratch up boats. The floating dock can be used to launch easily down to the lowest of tides.

Still a great place today, as we launch kayaks from the shore. Ward's Marina has an interesting history about the Ward Family Marina. A great history tells the story at crusing under sail". The full story & nice to see the passion for the areas history topics. This marina is also home to the Mud Bay Yacht Club but I don't know any more than that. Nice place to walk and see the eagles
