Emera Oval
Amazing public space where you can rent on ice skates and helmets for free. They also have plastic ‘walkers’ for children and beginners. It can get a little crowded at busy times, but everyone seems to be careful and courteous to others of all skills.

First time visit. NYE 2018Lots of people but still plenty of room for a nice skate. All genre's of music playing through the speakers.I parked for free on a nearby street.They have a room where you can go and warm up.Free skate borrowing for use, helmets required under 12. Recommend bringing your own skates though and wearing blade guards until you get to the ice.Wonderful atmosphere, lots of fun with friends and family and a great way to get some exercise.

I consider the Oval the greatest gift to Halifax. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Skating is free, and there are free skate rentals. People love using it and it allows anyone to come and skate. In the non-winter months, you can also use it to roller skate, roller blade, or even cycle on the track. Great facilities, lots of benches, and maintained really well.

I was worried about going skating alone , also since am not very good, still learning. I sometimes need rails to hold myself.i was impressed that they have the training wheels good for adult.It gets cleaned, and the next skating starts about 4pm. Which get really busy especially on weekends. Good place to skate in halifax, plus it's free.

Best place to practice inline skating during summer and winter off-season. Prior to summer hours the the building is closed but there are water fountains and a public washroom nearby.The surface is rough concrete except for a smooth patch on the outside of turn 2.
