BEWARE do not use Prairie Rose they are nothing but heartless con artist who try and up sell during one of the most difficult times in your life. We had the shock of having my 25 yr old brother pass from a random medical issue, we had to deal with the funeral director Elizabeth who was so cold towards us every time my mother broke down she would say can we continue?". She also would constantly say we cannot do stuff or give us a few options and then when we picked something (the cheaper option) she would say that wont work and then would say only the expensive options would. When we called before even going to meet with them the prices she gave us was completely different then when we got there and they increase by DOUBLE. When we asked to speak to the manager we where told she was away and would call us.....ONLY for the manager to call us and say it was our fault that Elizabeth treated us that way and we had no other option but to deal with the heartless women. we took my brother to the other funeral home in Airdrie and I cannot tell you how much happier we where when we left Prairie rose.DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME."

I just wanted to take a moment to thank Crissinda for the professionalism and more importantly, the kindness she showed our family during the passing of a family member. From the moment we called the funeral home, Crissinda was there for our family. She guided us through the arrangements and explained each step that needed to happen. Crissinda even had team members drop off funeral cards to local businesses in Didsbury in order to let community members know of the funeral date and time. Her graveside presence gave a calm to our family as we proceeded with the service. The officiant was appropriate and respectful of our wishes for the service. We had a wonderful experience dealing with Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services. After our family member passed away it was an overwhelming time for all of us and they were very helpful with their services.We loved that they came to our home to fill out all the paperwork prior to the cremation of our loved one. This model made the process very convenient during this difficult time and we really appreciated this aspect of their service. They were also able to return the ashes back to our home and they were very accommodating to our needs.They were able to make our Memorial cards, did a wonderful job, and provided great suggestions. They were timely with all their services and organized.Diane and Cory were both very professional and took time to answer all the questions that my family and I had.The price of the cremation was very reasonable comparing to other funeral services. This decreased some financial stress and burden on us during this time.I would recommend their services to anyone who recently experiences a loss in their life. Thank you for everything.

During the 2 hardest times of our family's lives...Crissinda and her team treated myself...my family with dignity. During our sorrow this past Christmas...she was kind...informative and at the service and internment...every detail she and her team attended to! She goes above to provide service...she will meet you and go over everything. Her staff were pleasant too. She guided us from the beginning of the process to the end. Experiencing both a funeral and cremation...their service provided kindness and hugs in a professional manner. Thank you all.

Alternatives were very professional and helpful in making arrangements after my father's death. We appreciated the fact that they respected our desire for simplicity and did not push us to spend more. The care and compassion shown to our family during the loss of my father was beautifully touching and sincere. The level of service that was extended to us was phenomenal, they even went as far as to deliver my fathers’ ashes to our home at our convenience. It was made clear to us that at any time, we could reach out with questions or concerns and whenever we did, we were consistently treated with patience, kindness and respect. When you are aware that a loved one is going to pass soon you know that you will be speaking to a funeral home soon. Having a prior work relationship with Alternatives made this difficult time easier. Ryan was there for my father and my family in one of the worst times of our life. He was very professional, honest, accommodating, and showed us how much his professional relationship with my father meant to him. It was more than that. They had a friendship and we knew that this was not going to be easy for Ryan as a funeral director. Every meeting with that we had with Ryan was very difficult but he showed us a level of respect that we do not see much of anymore. The way Ryan assisted my mother during the loss of her husband was incredible. He answered all questions honestly and quickly. He gave us more than enough time to organize things and help to complete tasks. Ryan never put us under pressure to purchase extra things, or a bigger more expensive package, or anything for that matter. He made whatever we wanted as a family happen.The day of the funeral, the team from Alternatives was great! We are so lucky to call these people our friends. We were welcomed to the service with hugs and sentiments from the whole team. They were so respectful. We have no idea if anything even went wrong because the day was perfect!!!Thank you to everyone from Alternatives for taking care of my family in this awful time.
