We have been dealing with SUNMED Holidays for about seven years. We have tried several of their packages to Portugal and each has been of top quality. Each year we have had an even better experience than the year before!The staff of Henry Lopes, his son, Rafael, Maria and Lucia, have been very helpful and have given us great advice.I do not want to miss another important member of the Sunmed staff. Telma is the Sunmed site representative who spends her time helping us if and when needed . She is a pleasure to behold and to work with and offers many suggestions and ideas. We have taken several trips at her recommendation and have enjoyed them all. She knows all there is to know about the Algarve, where to shop, where to visit and how to get there! She is worth a large Canadian currency note, just because she is available to help you. Having said that, they have always been the lowest price packages available. You will not pay less anywhere else than one of the Sunmed packages. We have compared the prices by making all of the arrangements ourselves but Sunmed will not be beaten.We have introduced several other Canadians to Sunmed Holidays and everyone says the same, They are the best for Portugal and the Algarve.If they suggest a location or a specific hotel, take heed as they have been there and know what you can expect. They introduced us to the beach in the photo. Falesia beach It was voted one of the top five beaches in Europe several years running. We would never have discovered it!We have looked at other travel groups but always come back to Henry and his crew. Do not hesitate. Give them a call. Tell them that Dave sent you!

We have just returned from a month in the Algarve and had the most amazing time. Well organized from our arrival in Lisbon, picking up the car to the beautiful accommodations at the Algar Village in Albufeira. Excellent restaurant on site with exceptional staff. We would recommend using Sunmed and will plan our next vacation with them.

We have traveled to Portugal, Madeira, Azores and Tenerife many times with SunMed Holidays. They always put together a package that meets our needs.. and always at a great price. The pousadas are wonderful and all different. You definitely feel like the King and Queen. We have also taken the wonderful Douro River Cruise at a very reasonable price. Portugal has so much history to see and enjoy, we will be going back soon.

Italy / LondonWe just returned from a wonderful trip offered by SunMed to Venice,Tuscany, and London. It was an excellent itinerary and so very well organized.by Henry Lopez. The flights,transfers,car rental, hotels and apartment all went so smoothly. We were very satisfied. We have used SunMed many times and truly appreciate the great customer service and great travel itineraries. Thanks!

It's a year ago today that we booked a 20 day vacation to Portugal starting on March 21st with another couple. The trip included 10 days in Albufera, two days in Porto and an 8 day cruise down the Duoro River. Little did we know that Covid 19 would be shutting down Portugal and much of Europe but that was clear a few days before we were scheduled to depart for our trip so in the interest of safety, we called Sunmed and told them we were not willing to jeopardize our health and were forced to cancel our trip. Sunmed refused to offer any refund or even a credit for our accommodations or the flight. The only option they gave us was to take a Duoro River cruise that was being offered in August 2020. We notified Raphael and Henry that we wanted to take advantage of that option. We subsequently tried contacting Sunmed several times to get some kind of information or itinerary on the cruise and heard nothing back. We waited and waited and August has long passed with no communication from Sunmed. We are out $5000 and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Sunmed will not be getting any business or positive reviews from me, my family or any friends I talk to. I might just get a reply from them now.

We have booked twice with Sunmed and are currently looking forward to our third trip to Portugal in spring 2018 to celebrate my birthday and our 50th wedding anniversary. The accommodation offered in Albufeira is first class and dealing with an agency very familiar with Portugal is a definite plus. Would not hesitate to recommend them.

Shocking customer aftercare...an organization which took no responsibility for booking totally inappropriate accommodation for our final week (out of four touring other parts of Portugal) in the Algarve. We ended up re-locating to another part of the Algarve at our own expense for 5 days as could not stay where we had been booked into. False promises in respect of arranging a trip to Obidos as compensation, having missed out on this due to a flight cancellation from Madeira, misinformation relating to the arranged (by them) car hire firm who advised they were sick of telling Sun Med Holidays that they provide the wrong contact information, no response or follow up with us other than a very rude one to BBB (They should stay home and not go anywhere.") who we had contacted upon our return and false claims as to the professional organizations they belong to...we have also complained to TICO

After seeing all these wonderful reviews we thought we would try Sunmed for our vacation to Croatia. And we did enjoy our time there.However when we encountered problems with some arrangements they had made for us this company" was not able to help us. (These problems resulted in additional expenses). When we returned home and again tried to have them address these issues they were not willing to help us. In my opinion Sunmed is not an expert on Croatia and has since demonstrated poor customer service.My next two vacations are to Portugal and Spain but I will NOT be booking with Sunmed"

BewareWe booked our Portugal trip thru Sunmed Holidays this past May. For the most part, arrangements were (by Maria) as we expected and we had a lovely vacationHowever our last three days in Portugal ended in Porto and unfortunately this is where Sunmed failed us.For three days, with two suitcases and at the end of our 18 day holiday , the room that had been booked by Sunmed for us was the size of a walk in closet with a small makeshift bathroom . We were unable to open both suitcases at the same time and dressers or closets. Terrible! An email was sent to Sunmed upon our arrival with no response.A week after we arrived home Sunmed (Rafael) contacted us but was defensive and took no responsibility for these poor accommodations which definitely put a damper on our last few days.Despite being told by Rafael that I would hear back from Maria...... two weeks later, I have notInitially all I wanted was for Sunmed to be aware of our experience - a heads up for future bookingsHowever, Rafael’s unprofessional handling and offensive manner is unacceptable. I will not be returning and will warn my fellow travelers to beware, as Sunmed do not always follow their own policies

My wife and I first booked travel to Portugal with Sunmed Holidays in 2002. Our initial experience with the firm was with Henry Lopes and over that years most of our dealings have been with Henry's son Rafael. We have referred a number of friends and relatives to Sunmed and we have never regretted doing so.
