PoCo Bowl

Lived in POCO over 30 years, done small family daycare for 15 of those years. POCO bowl was always a good place to take the daycare children with a small daycare discount and friendly service. Apparently, no more discount or friendly service for small family daycares, needless to say, was dissapointed.

Today I had one of the worst experiences ever being on an outing. I planned to take 3 teenagers bowling. I called in the morning to book the place. I specifically stated I would be there from 5:40pm until 7pm. It was all confirmed. I was told on the phone that my game needed to end by 7pm because a league was practicing. Which I said ok with on the phone. We booked 2 games. I also notified them on the phone these boys had disabilities. We showed up and started our game. The boys did a great job following all expectations. They did not create any type of scene or anything. At 6:20 on round 6 of our first game, I was rudely told by the staff I needed to leave at 6:30pm. I was very confused as I had my booking. I was told the league starts earlier to practice. I was blamed that I should have known this, even though their staff told me otherwise in the morning. There was no accountability that they made a mistake, instead I was told I should have been aware. The sorry that I got was “so sorry but I don’t really care.” Rather than talking to the people in the league that they made a mistake I was blamed that it was my fault their practice was delayed. We got stare’s non stop from everyone there. I refused to leave and was told I could finish our first game. The parents of the boys were told to come back at 7 by me. So I was either expected to wait in the rain or watch the leagues play. At 6:40, the same staff came up to me and rudely stated “you need to really leave right now there are people waiting.” We we’re on our last round of the first game. I understand there could be mistakes and we are human, but when you see me obviously supporting three individuals with physical disabilities that have done nothing wrong and start yelling at their teacher, then you need to check yourself. I have been working with some of the boys for a very long time, I have taken them out to many places, never have we been treated this way. Never have we been told we have to leave for a mistake on their part. What a full on disgrace. Get your staff training. Get them to go thru some type of understanding of what a community includes. I apologize that their disability may make you feel uncomfortable but that seems like a “you” issue and not a “my problem.”

Call before you drop in! Although the kids liked playing, not as in the pictures with the glow lights and stuff others posted in the reviews. I remember they had nice updated music in the past, which today was low and not current. The staff denied turning on the party lights when I asked because a league" was coming in an hour. It was just us and another player. I wish there was a schedule of what to expect online

We had so much fun here. Reasonable price, friendly staff!Only 5 pin bowling here folks. We will for sure go again to bowl here

I'm glad this place is still around, and seems to be thriving. It's like a throwback and a little piece of Port Coquitlam history.

Always amazing service from the staff here. Clean alleys, friendly people and great deals! So nostalgic for my parents and I hope the place never gets shut down

We went to PoCo Bowl for our child's 5th birthday party, and it was lots of fun! Overall great value: booked for 2 hours the party room and 2 lanes. The cost for 10 kids to bowl plus the party room was $125. The staff were friendly and helpful when explaining the rules to the kids, and ordering pizza for us :). The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the party room was in rough shape when we got there to use it: hadn't been properly cleaned or vacuumed, and the private bathroom attached to it, which is a nice perk, was filthy. It was also very hot in the room because it's an old brick building, so beware if booking in the hotter months. We ended up doing birthday cake outside of the party room because it was too hot in there for the kids.

Great place to go and roll a couple balls. Busy sometime with league play so call and check availability. Great place to do fund raisers always a hit with our teams. Also great place for birthday parties the kids love it with all the disco lights ect. Staff are always pleasant to deal with and very helpful

Don't bother. I was planning a family bowling night so I called to reserve a spot. I left a message and it took 30 hours to get back to me. Once they did, I had to scramble to make plans with my family. Once I did I called back to take the spot they had. I left a message and heard nothing. They never called me back. I wasn't about to pack up and just chance it because I know we'd get turned away. Awful booking system. Zero online booking. Extremely disorganized . Just save the hassle and go to Zone bowling. More expensive but they won't turn you away.

Great place but worst experience today. Called and booked a slot over phone and when we showed up we were told we cant use the slot we booked. Why? Noone knows how we got booked while they had a league game. Was planning to bring a large birthday party but now they lost me forever. We traveled for 40 mins to get there only to be told by an uncaring young woman that unfortunately we cant use the slot we booked. Our name and number was in the book in plain sight. Unacceptable! Be careful before you spend energy going here. Will not return.Added after Owner's reply.Owner's reply is misleading. We did not ask for two games. We asked for one and were reserved one game slot until 740. We were not late. We infact arrived early, just before 7 pm - we were on WCE so we know exactly. Very disappointed at the attempt to make it our fault while it was clearly a complete screw up. Thanks for nothing.
