Had lunch with the girls, and while it was nice having the patio to ourselves, the service was painfully slow despite the restaurant being empty - it took over 40 minutes to get our appetizer, which was tasty (spinach dip). The other food was not great, the Alfredo sauce tasted like mushroom water and the veggie wrap spices were unbalanced and dry. The iced cappuccino has chunks of ice in it, it was not blended enough. The server did fully comp the fettuccine Alfredo which was appreciated. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

Great atmosphere. I loved the fish and chips. Service was something to be concerned about. waitress was in her own world forgetting stuff all over the place. Other then that a little expensive for the dinner but ok.

This is an amazing place to kick back for a couple of hours after a hard day at work or just to relax with a a few friends. The live music was phenomenal. The meal I had was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff very friendly and make you feel very welcomed. Definitely will be back to enjoy the beautiful patio.

Great restaurant. Very underrated as compared to the menu, quality of the food, service and ambience it offers. The owner of the Barrie restaurant accommodated our group of 20 ladies and let us create a special event for the event. That was very entrepreneurial and client service oriented.

First thing's first: this is not a café. This is almost a fine dining restaurant. Let's get that clear. My sister and mom raved about this place so i was excited to eat here for lunch one day - neither my mom or I were very impressed. The service was excellent - i believe our server was named Roxanne - she was very patient and helpful and offered to put a discount on our meal since we weren't very pleased; we got our food remarkably fast and it looked delicious - and that's where the praise ends. The food was okay. Just okay, and for around 8 eighty dollars you don't really want 'just okay' food. It was certainly pretty but didn't live up to the visuals. My mom noted that the flatbread looked and tasted burned yet was barely warm when it was served to us, as well as that it was oily. The calamari tasted almost like imitation crab but at the very least it wasn't soggy. It was served on a piece of lettuce that was obviously just there for decoration. My eggs in my Eggs Benedict were overcooked, the hollandaise sauce began to stick to itself like glue minutes after it being brought out, the bacon felt and tasted exactly like the crispy bacon" you buy in boxes to microwave and was extremely greasy. My side of bacon was also served on a piece of (wilted) lettuce and once we had removed the bacon there was a pool of oil on the bottom.Out of all of my food the fries were by far the best thing we had been served. I forgot to request ketchup for them though but that's on me.My mom stated that even her burger was just "okay" and her cream of broccoli soup was honestly more water than cream.I don't mean to write such a strong review but if not for my mom having had good experiences twice before at dinner than i wouldn't consider going back. My mom and i were both looking forward to it and it let us down.It seemed to me that when it comes to lunch they focus more on presentation over any kind of flavor.I hope if i go there again my experience is better next time. I appreciate our waitress being so understanding and doing her best to make it even a little better.Better luck next time

Symposium Cafe Restaurant Barrie
A nice quiet place for the family and extended family. Lots of different options on the menu to choose from all prepared and executed nicely. The drinks will not disappoint although the mojitos could use more mint. The bathrooms could be cleaner. The restaurant decor is interesting and gives off great vibes. The restaurant as a whole was very clean and sanitary. The overall experience at this location is a good value

The quality has gone down from years past, I ordered the southern chicken with fries and the fish and chips. The gravy arrived with a skin on it as if it had been sitting out too long. my portion of fries didn't even fill the bowl it was in compared to the very full plate of fries for the fish and chips. Both meals had brown old coleslaw and they forgot to serve the fish with tartar sauce. It took 35 minutes and we were only 1 of four occupied tables 2 of which already had food when we walked in. The wait is understandable on a busy night but it was dead and there were staff standing around while one server did all the work on the floor. The restaurant was also freezing and we had to ask them to turn up the heat. All the customers were wearing their jackets at their tables. This was at the Barrie location on cundles.

Our food was overall okay, thought some was salty, and someone tried Chicken Waffles for their first time. Alana the server was amazing. My friend told her that the food was okay, just that Chicken Waffles didn't seem like it was her personal preference. This server went out of her way to make sure we were served well despite that! Amazing for Alana. The food might just be a little overhyped. The Symposium Iced macchiato, and Italian sodas were really great! Highly recommend those.
