Gulf Island Kayaking

My husband and I booked a 3 hour sandstone tour. Our guide was Christina. We had a lovely time kayaking around seeing pregnant seals, sandstone structures and other unique sights. Christina was knowledgeable, professional, friendly and laid back. We had a wonderful time seeing the beauty of the island and hanging out with her.

Fantastic experience. Really enjoyed our lesson and the friendly people there. It was our first experience sea kayaking and I can’t wait to come back.

Please do yourselves a favour and try the bioluminescence night tour!!Seeing our paddles light up shimmers in the water while being out in the water under the soft glow of the moon was truly magical. I wish we would have been able to capture the bioluminescence on camera but it’s definitely something you have to experience in person.Huge thank you to Christina for being such a kind, patient, and humorous guide. I felt reassured as a first-time kayaker. This was an amazing experience to say the least.

Fantastic staff , boats are well maintained a wonderful way to see the local wildlife like seals otters and whales. You can either choose from a single kayak or double. A quick tutorial of water safety and self rescue at the beginning and you are on your way.As with all sports and activities be conscious of everyone's physical abilities, as you will be dealing with tides and some current.Make sure to bring water and sunscreen.

Great marina, the gentleman helping us was knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately with the strong wind we didn’t go out for long but were offered a refund

Ben goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable but, above all, safe. He’s very knowledgeable of the area and will make sure to give you tips in par with your rowing ability. My wife, two dogs and I had a great time and will be back!

Incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience.We booked the private bioluminescence tour for our first year wedding anniversary in early July. We travelled from Calgary and since the tour is late, you are required to book accommodations on Galiano Island since the ferry does not run at night. We were aware this would make this a costly endeavour but a private tour for our wedding anniversary was worth it to us as we decided anniversaries would be for creating memorable experiences together.Upon arrival to the kayak place at 9pm we were informed that a family of four would be joining us on our private" tour as business was slow and they needed the booking. We did not receive a phone call or email letting us know of the changes to our reservation. Not once in all of our correspondence or bookings was it stated that our private tour may be cancelled and turned into a group tour. I made sure to read through all the emails again before writing this review to ensure this was the case. This is false advertising and completely unacceptable. A private tour does not include a family we have never met and we would not have booked this experience or the hotel

Second multi day trip with Gulf Island Kayaking , thanks Ben and Christina for all the help, advices, sharing your knowledge about the islands and for showing us that amazing viewpoint on the way to the ferry. You guys made our trip fantastic again !

I am pleased to highly recommend Gulf Island Kayaking and specifically the Bioluminescence Night Tour. I went with some novice paddler friends and our guide Mikah (sp?) was patient and kind, with a focus on us having a positive experience where we learned about our surroundings, not only the biology but the historical and cultural significance of our tour visits. I was a bit nervous about being out on the water in the dark, but my night vision kicked in as the sun went down, and I enjoyed relaxing and gently paddling around with our group. Thank you Mikah!

The sunset kayaking tour was absolutely gorgeous. What an incredible experience. Anastasia was so amazing. She was helpful, kind, knowledgeable and a joy to be paddling with. We felt safe and supported. What an absolute gorgeous setting. A trip we won’t forget for a long time.
