Polite Paws

I took my reactive dog to Polite Paws and I was unsure anyone could help. My dog was slowly taking over, becoming the king in the house and he knew it but I didn't know what to do. Ollie was enrolled in the 4 week board and train program and he has had incredible results. Its like he is a different dog. I am so happy to finally have the control back and he seems happier also. Laura and her staff and absolutely incredible. They are kind, considerate and really listen without judgement. I would highly recommend Polite Paws to everyone!!

We brought our Husky/Shepherd rescue to Laura to help him with some aggression towards other dogs, towards people, recall and several other great commands. Laura is amazing. It has been 7 months since Hunter was with Laura and he is doing amazing. She not only taught Hunter self control, she taught us what kind of dog we had and how we can make it a win win to enjoy him everyday. I went from being nervous walking him, wondering if he was going to lunge at another person or dog, to being that person that say, “yes, you can pet him.”You have to be prepared to do the work. It’s not a quick fix and requires dedication. I can’t tell you how many people tell me what a well behaved and mannered dog we have. I know him well enough now to know when he is testing to see what he can get away with and we go back to the basics. It doesn’t take much for him to know what is expected from him.After several trainers, Laura was the one. She was the one for Hunter and she taught me so much. I wanted to give him back to the Humane Society because I was so worried he might hurt someone or another dog. He is a different dog. Thank you so much!!!

Absolutely the best dog trainer I have ever been to! Laura has such a deep understanding of dog behaviour and how we need to interact with them. After 4 sessions with her, my dog is calmer, has much better leash skills and doesn't freak out when she sees other dogs anymore. It has been almost a month since our dog Kona (a heeler/border collie mix) stayed with the amazing trainers at Polite Paws for a behavioural board-and-train. Kona has always been respectful at playing with other dogs off leash, but before his training at Polite Paws he would turn into something completely different when we would meet any other dog on leash. Even if we were across the street he would lunge, bark, growl, snarl… you name it.With the knowledge both we and Kona received from his board-and-train, we are now able to pass other dog walkers on the sidewalk - dog to dog - without a reaction. It is truly life changing. Plus, the other added bonuses of things like a top notch heel, the ability to stay in place, and an outstanding recall are cherries on top!It took work, practice, patience, and an expectation of perfection on every walk; things didn’t change over night. But none of this would have been possible without the Polite Paws crew. I cannot recommend (and thank!) them enough.

We recently had our stubborn Shar Pei in for the board and train program and are very pleased about the progress he has made! We feel like we get our dog back and he gets to live his best life! Our confidence is growing with him in dog and human interactions and we are excited to take him places now! Thank you to the team at Polite Paws, it’s so great to see our dog love and trust all the trainers there !

We brought our husky in for help with leash training. Laura was amazing! Our dog immediately responded to her. She took the time to teach us some key training techniques. Our dog is now very well mannered on leash. Laura also helped teach us to keep our dog from mooching at the table (a challenge with three young kids). Using what Laura taught us our dog waits patiently, lying on her bed until we tell her “okay” after dinner.

Laura is a miracle worker. We brought our dog to polite paws for a two week board and train. She helped us learn how to properly interact with our dog and give her a better life with more freedom. We had initially really struggled with recall for our pup but with Laura’s help, we got our recall to 100% and had a better relationship with our dog. She also helped us learn why our pup was acting certain ways and gave us a better idea of how to read certain behaviours. We will for sure be bringing our future dogs to Laura to not only help us, but our dogs as well.

My dog Sage (german shepherd), as well as my friend's dog - Jasper (golden retriever) are both trained by Laura and Anina from Polite Paws. The dogs are exceptionally well behaved and pleasure to handle on our walks.In this picture, Jasper and Sage are doing a down-stay command in front of Brith Jenny coffee shop in Kelowna. We were there for half an hour, enjoying a cup of coffee, the dogs did not move even tho there were people and other dogs passing by within 4 feet of where they were laying down.Having Sage in for 2 weeks board and train, and being shown myself, in a lesson, how to follow up with the work they have done, has given me the opportunity to give my dog more freedom and have her with me off leash doing hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, camping, most impressively walking her down a busy street with car traffic and pedestrians without any concerns. Having a well trained well behaved dog makes life so much easier and owning a dog so much more fun!I get stopped and complimented by other dog owners who always ask where I had her trained. Polite Paws! I cannot thank them enough for helping me integrate my dog into my lifestyle -worry free!

Seems like there has been a change in staff since friends were in training here. It’s unfortunate.They seemed distracted, and not really wanting to be there. Dogs may all seem the same to you working with so many all the time but they are our babies and we paid a lot of money. Our pup was well cared for physically at least as far as we can tell. We don’t recommend as the wait the money and the staff just doesn’t seem worth it at the end of the day. Our friends with a really aggressive dog were in a board and train with someone else that was closer to town and they had a completely different personalized experience.
