Just finished my OFA 3 with Erin and absolutely loved every minute, incredible instructor who is so knowledgeable and engaging. As someone who struggled with school in the past I went in anxious and now feel confident with my skills all thanks to Erin. Could not have asked for a better experience or better instructor. If you want to feel confident in what you’re learning and end up with the proper skills look no further. Thank you for everything Erin

My experience was fabulous! Erin Chamberlain, was my instructor for First Aid Level 2 at the North Shore location. She worked us hard by making the course interesting and keeping us engaged and motivated the whole time, making every minute count (never a dull moment !). But also made it fun and connected with each and everyone of us on a personal level. Such a great team! She is educated, well organized and a compassionate leader. I highly recommend her for her knowledge and leadership skills. Thanks Erin! I Feel 100% competent in my new role as a OFA. Sincerely, Jacqueline Morgan.

First of all -- I passed OFA 3 so this is not a biased review. But the 2 weeks were emotionally scarring because the instructor (Erin) is arrogant, unprofessional, and will belittle you.... You will get yelled at and be treated like a child. The instructor does not start on time or stay on schedule. It would seem that she simply does not care enough. I would not recommend SJA. Go somewhere else. You will save money and still get the same certificate at the end of the day.

The course was great, and the instructor made the learning fun. However, I required a PDF of the course certificate and the charge is $15 to send me a PDF by email. As well, when I took the course they did not tell me to bring a pocket mask and made that mandatory and sold them to everybody in the course, it felt like another money grab. I won’t take another course from St. John, because I feel like I’ve been ripped off twice.

Instructor started promptly on time. Course contented was delivered as per what was described in course description, and match what is required by WorkSafe BC. St John's provided great practicums for learning first aid skills.

Instructor never showed. Class of 12 sitting outside for half an hour with no way of contacting anyone and many here have had issues previously with st. John ambulance. Some have driven 45min for this course for their job. Awful.

class hasn’t even started yet already there is an ‘additional fee for a Ambu ‘Res-Cue Mask 14.55$ - in the receipt at the bottom (small lettering) you are asked to bring one or purchase NO MENTION of cost in the receipt - You have to know what one is prior to understand what you need. Asked to wear latex gloves (no asking if there are any latex allergies) ....

Different instructors teach different content. One instructor tells you one thing... you show up for the the exam, you get demerits for improper procedure.Level 2 OFA is a one week course. Too much information to absorb in one week. You spend 7.5 hours a day in the class going through the lessons and scenarios, then you are expected to go home and complete the homework and read from 6-8 chapters of the book for the next day. After all is said and done... you are spending 12+ hours a day on this course. They tell you at the beginning that the course is really hard. What they don't tell you it that the failure rate is 50% or more. If you're a learning academy or instructional institute, and your success rate is barely 50%... what does that tell you? They don't do a very good job of instructing, do they? They take their job seriously, but they don't give it to you in a way that is easily learn-able. They don't want to make this a 2 week course or a 1.5 week course. They want to charge the entrance fee and if you fail they charge you for re-examination. Naked cash grab.
