Calgary East Alberta Supports Centre

Just left the office after an intake meeting with Valerie. I have a place to stay but they would rather see me on the streets with 2 cats and a dog then issue my check. Today is the 3rd rent is due on the 1st, but now it will take 5 business days unless i get a written eviction notice to the place in which i just signed a lease. Then they will release my check...what about this is right. Valerie doesn't consider late rent to be important. Her rudeness was noted. And thanks to her i will have to relocate again. had very rude staff call me, im calling u guys for help to get out of my situation for a reason, i don't get why ur staff are after peoples throats, all we're doing is asking for help. nobody wants to work with a social worker that belittles them and undermines their problems.

Honestly one of the worst places to deal with, not very helpful and impossible to contact a worker. No care for the people that they are paid to help. Government at its finest, useless!

Alberta Support is to help and support people in need, but when somebody did not have an address where he is living or is homeless as many in Calgary, Alberta Support in NE says NO, your are not eligible for benefit, THIS MEAN I MUST LIVE UNDER A BRIDGE until I dead, please I need answers....

I have been on Alberta works for 3 years the medical part . In may they sent me a letter to fill out which I did , along with anything else they requested for . It all had to be in by the 20th of June , I had it in by the 16. They haven’t paid me for this month , my case worker will not call me back I have left 4 voicemails with her , I get a hold of west campus to get my case workers supervisor number , but he is also no in office , so they gave me some other ladies number , which I called and left a msg and she still hasn’t called .. I’m on the medical part . What on gods green earth is going on ? They have everything they need and they still won’t pay me . No one will return my call .. u know what I think it’s time for? an ombudsman !

I'm a single father of 5, 2 in highschool, 1 in junior high and 2 in elementary. I have friends that are on Alberta works aswell, and from what they told me, it feels I'm having to jump through hoops. I've had my benefits held for the last two months now. No GST or ccb as I filed a little late. Just moved into a new place and still nothing. I've had the career guide and the financial worker treat me as if I can easily just leave my younger two unattended. Felt like I should've changed offices.

they cut me off because thought i was working and not reporting it even though they had medical docs that told them i was not able to work for a long period of time... this is the worst offic to deasl with. not every location is the same but sunridge staff and admin are the worst i have ever experienced in my life.. due to their lack of doing their job or even asking me i not only lodst all income bjut lost my home and everything..

I have never been more disgusted by an organization until now.Imagine that you have medication/procedure costs that are essential to life that add up to well over $950/mo. You have been using the Alberta Supports Centre in order to get support. You make less than 16,000 a year, so these costs are crippling. Here's what you can expect from these people with verified University degrees in this type of care and support. (U of C, U of A, etc.)- Your social worker will be nearly impossible to contact, and the only solution they offer you to non-contact is to quite literally tell on them to their supervisor. This will do nothing.- You can email your worker, the main office, and call both at the same time, and receive absolutely no correspondence for 3 months.- Your worker can and will hang up on you instead of explaining things like an adult.- Your worker will find every reason not to give you assistance. E.G., If your parents pity you and give you $100 to eat for the week because your support hasn't paid for your essential medication, they count that as external assistance and deny you.- In the event that you do receive support, there is a large chance that one of a few things will happen:A) They do not send a cheque, and say they have.B) They do send a cheque, but say nothing about doing so, even if you contact them to ask.C) They do absolutely nothing for you for months, approve you for months prior, and then tell you assistance is not retroactive. The intake worker threatened to have my daughter taken away from us for not being financially able to take care of our daughter after he threatened to cut us off of alberta works. Then when I asked him to look into my file with social services and get me F.A.S.D diagnosis from when I was in foster care he said it was my problem to get everything I need to apply for Aish. My actual worker will rarely contact me but the intake worker will and that just makes no sence why are there people working there if they do nothing.
