Nesters Food Market
It's the only game in town and it is quintessentially Gabriola Island. Quirky staff and weird little rooms creates an atmosphere that you won't find in the big box stores. It is expensive but there is that pesky ferry to deal with, eh?

The store is very dirty, and disgustingly expensive. They took out all the actual local food and put in mass market big corporations. they refuse to pay a living wage and are suffering huge staff shortages, making it an unpleasant experience to shop there. essentially holding the island hostage with their prices - it's cheaper to make the ferry trip to nanaimo than shop here. pay your staff better, nix your big-market sales ideologies, and serve the community instead of helping to fragment it.

Great selection for a small island grocery store, prices only slightly above average. Bizarre layout! Lots of local products and some cool, not-so-local products. (We became addicted to Gin Gins.)

It's deceptively big! There's nooks & crannys filled with endless amounts of grocery options. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they make you feel right at home. I love it!

Fantastic selection, prices and convenience. This is a store that looks after our island, by stocking products that are suitable for a selective yet diverse clientele. Many times I've found prices cheaper here than going all the way to Nanaimo. Many specialty items that would be tough to find in a large city, and Gabria locally-grown organic fruit and veg. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the store is always immaculate. Thank you Village Foods!

Visiting Gabriola this weekend. Great to see Nestor's on the island. A little expensive but that is to be expected. We had great food from the deli.
