Laebon Homes

We took possession of our home earlier in December but the entire home building process started in March/April 2022. Right from the start, Laebon was incredibly responsive to the questions that we had. We went through all of the must haves and were able to add the nice to haves to our new home. The costs were always communicated with us. We are incredibly happy with our new home. The selections we could choose from were great, all of the subcontractors/suppliers we dealt with were great and made the whole process really easy. The lines of communication were always open on either side. We were also willing to make some minor adjustments to keep things moving along (as in changing the color of the door hardware, super minor). If I had to choose something, one criticism would be the costs of some of the upgrades (albeit I am a contractor's daughter). We asked Laebon to price out installing a garage heater and framing a man-door in the garage but did not go ahead with it due to costs. That being said, we also did a TON of other upgrades that we are VERY happy with (highly recommend doing 9' ceilings on the main floor). The other minor comment I would make is that the appliances that are part of the basic package are very low end. We were always planning to upgrade our stove to a gas range but ended up upgrading the dishwasher as well as it just wasn't going to work for us. Overall, we are very happy with our new home. This was our first time building a home and our first Laebon home and we have no complaints. There are a couple of warranty items outstanding but I can imagine that some are delayed due to supply chain and the others are put on hold until spring (exterior work). I will make a note that if I were to email the office today about any of them I would also get a response today! My piece of advice would be to communicate and ask questions! Laebon can't read your mind. Schedule those walk throughs, send those emails, make those phone calls. This is your home, make sure it's how you want! This was our first new build and in fact the first time we had ever moved since we were married. We had lived in Calgary at the same place for 42 years before contacting Laebon to build our new home in Red Deer.We had heard from friends and acquaintances regarding their experiences with other builders over the years so we went in with our eyes wide open. We were expecting delays and all sorts of other related issues around getting a home built. Virtually nobody ever took possession on time.However, we have nothing but positive things to say about Laebon. They were totally up front about everything and used an app called Buildertrend to map out all the schedules and progress throughout the build. Our project manager Dustin was on top of everything right from the start to completion. Because we were renting in Red Deer while our house was being built, we can attest to that. If one aspect of the house was delayed because of supply chain or sub-contractor shortage, he would get something else completed. Therefore the build continually pushed forward. Laebon consistently met or exceeded all expectations as well as exceeding all builder codes. To make a long story short, our possession date was a full 2 weeks earlier than first projected. All the sub-contractors and businesses were friendly and easy to work with. They offered several helpful suggestions and never tried to up-sell us.We would not hesitate to recommend Laebon if you were considering a new build. We were very impressed and happy with our entire experience.

We supplied and installed cabinets for one of Laebon’s custom homes. They were great to work with, job site was clean, they were very organized and professional. The custom home had some very cool features and they did a good job!

I have had the pleasure to build with Laebon Homes twice. I had a great experience on both occasions and my homes turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this builder.

I have been a tenant of Laebon for years now and they are nothing but fantastic. All the staff have dealt with is very professional, organized, timely, knowledgeable, extremely friendly and helpful. They also have an excellent maintenance team that is super timely and knowledgeable. They have been in business for a while and it really shows. If you are considering choosing Laebon you will not be disappointed.

I am really happy with Laebon's new build experience. I was involved in 3 new build process (2 with my parents, 1 for myself) with 3 different builders, and Laebon has been the best. Some pleasant highlights for me include:1. Allowing down-payment to be paid using my cashback credit cards2. All upgrade costs were readily available and accurate, often provided on the spot, no bait-and-switching. Keep in mind this was during COVID when things had longer turn-around times so I was pretty impressed.3. Bathrooms have two sets of exhaust for moisture control, one goes through the HRV in the basement, the other directly vented to the outside. I didn't know this when I upgraded for the HRV and was pleasantly surprised.4. When my bank reneged my financing 2 days prior to possession (I was suddenly told that I must I withdraw a larger-than-necessary mortgage amount in order to close the purchase, which contradicts bank's previous written email confirmation regarding the said open mortgage), Laebon allowed a grace period for my parents to wire in the missing money, so we still moved into the house on time while the missing money was in-transit.5. We found most things that came standard with the house were of pretty high quality, so we didn't need to budget for additional upgrade money. This was especially true for the appliance package and the plumbing fixtures.

You would expect if you spend over half an million dollars that they would deliver a fully finished home. This is not the case with laebon. Definitely the last time I buy a house from these people. Very unorganized. Do your research before you buy. Pretty much all cookie cutter homes, just look at the pictures. Never ever buy a home from this company, the warranty coverage is a joke you will be running around chasing them for months before they do anything or anything at all! Unbelievable. Over six warranty claims so far, this should tell you about how good the quality of work actually is. Don’t fall for this.

We purchased a brand new home and have had nothing but issues in dealing with Laebon. They are rushing to complete homes that the quality of the home isn’t where it should be for a new build. We had our water heater break within the first few days, a few cabinets installed that we can’t even open and some that came damaged, the garage weather strip was falling off, incomplete walk in closets, damage to the flooring, dents on our microwave and dishwasher. We had noted this items on our final walk through and were told by the project manager that these would be all be fixed. We are now battling to get these items completed. We have had many service calls and the staff that come are unprofessional and challenge us every time. I previously purchased a Laebon home prior to this home and the quality has dropped dramatically. This wasn’t the last home I planned on purchasing with Laebon and after this experience, I will never purchase with them again. DO NOT buy a home with Laebon prior to the home being 100% complete and even then, make sure you are very diligent in checking the quality of the home. In talking with other people who recently purchased a Laebon home, we don’t appear to be the only ones with issues.

We have been involved in numerous projects for Laebon. They have always been great to work with. Excellent staff in every department. Very organized and easy to deal with.

I have been associated with this fine company for awhile now. I help supply the appliances for majority of these homes. They are great to deal with, easy to communicate with. I’ve dealt with many of the great folks in the office and the sales staff at the showhomes, all are great people.
